^^agree, also try bleeding it by raising both front tires, start the engine and turn the wheel fully to one side for a minute or two, then the other side, repeat if necessary. Does it make the whining noise? If not you need a new one. I assume your using ATX fluid.

I've bled it for like 30 mins and no whining at all. And no I'm using valvoline ps fluid. I've got new pump in there from advance auto. I pulled a pump yesterday off of a junkyard foci. Ill see if maybe advance sold me a faulty pump?

Hmmm, really odd. Seems you're not making power/pressure somewhere.
Perhaps it's time to get some kind of pressure tester to make sure it's coming out of the pump w/pressure? It would be the rack itself....

your suppose to use mercon trans fluid NOT PS fluid it will cause the pump to fail.

Really? That's really weird. Why is that? Why wouldn't you use standard ps fluid?

I have to refill mine since I drained it for all the additions and changes, so this info would help me as well. I'd rather not have to pull a pump right after I get the car running lol.

Yup really. I'm not sure why either but when I did the clutch we dropped the subframe to make life easier to get the trans out and in doing so had to disconnect the PS lines. Re filled it with the trans fluid and it worked great

Got some fittings in yesterday that I needed, hopefully it's all of them!

The stainless one is for a coolant hose, the rest are all for the distribution of the coolant lines.
The junction I made will run along side the block by the coil pack and allow the use of the oil temp and pressure sensors to be easily accessible!





....and I looked up how the temp sensor is...it's too deep and you can't use those standard 1/8" sensor fittings for the temp senders. Lame.
So what I will do is disconnect the union in the middle from the -6an to -6an, connect that to: -6an female / 1/8" male >> 1/8" inner thread 3" inner through-frame adapter >> 1/8" sensor sender.

That'll take care of this ish and the sender will have the clearance in there for a proper reading haha.

PS fluid is type "F" ATF fluid. Mercon is the same as Dextron. They are very different in friction handling properties.
