2012 Ford Focus ST - Smoked tails?

YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

All of the promo photos have the standard red tails, but the show car had tinted/smoked tails. Anyone know which will be going into the final product? IMO, the smoked tails make the car look MUCH more aggressive and hide the ugly side profile of the hatchback tail lamp assembly.

Thoughts? Insight?

Yeah, its not really a big deal if they dont come smoked from the factory. Its veryy easy to whip out some niteshade and do them.

They do look good though.

That sort of tint isn't legal so they'd never be sold like that.

^ Sort of, but if its from factory it will be fine. Most States have laws they only state the light needs to be visable from a certain distance. There are plenty of cars that come with a darker tail light housing than others.

^^ because they are not factory like that. Stock they meet laws on light distance, you then messed with that. If Ford were to release it tinted, the bulbs would be strong enough to meet laws. Also it wouldn't be black it would reflective like it is supposed to be. Like I said many cars have dark tail lights from factory.
