There's a lot of parts for the Zetec 5 speed but not very many for the new ZX4 ST.

depends on what you are going to do with it. If it is just a daily driver it will be a great car. If you are wanting it for speed I would look around. I am thinking about an LS1 Camaro if I can find one at a good price.

They are great daily drivers. Economic, inexpensive, fun to drive, and have great looks. I recommend it. Just dont get and SVT.

I think the Mazda 3 is a sweet looking car, never driven one though so I cant give an honest comparison. Dont know anything about Scions, nor do I care to. They are just Toyota by-products.

The TC gets good reviews. A TC with the $3000 speed option should be about the same price as the ST.

3, xA, tC

I like the 3, except for the interior. Overall, the S package is really tight, peppy, and a decent deal - and almost as good as the SVT. As for my interior gripes, the stereo is the biggest. It's gonna be a nasty looking install if you want an aftermarket HU. I test drove when it first came out - dealer wasn't offering discounts. If you can live with the factory stereo, then the 3, in "S" trim, is a good choice.

The xA - uh, no. Hell no. It goes like molasses - slow, slow, slow. It's got the same engine as the Echo. Looks better than the Echo, but it's also what, 300 Lbs heavier. It is a unique looking car, however. I guess your demand as far as performance goes will dictate it's overall attractiveness.

Test drove the tC last week. When the first peeks of the tC were offered, I thought it was going to be one heck of a car. It's not bad, not bad at all. I prefer the SVT and the 3 in terms of driving, but I could live with the tC, no problem.

My biggest gripe on the tC? Price. Out of the box, it's a good deal. Start adding options, and a formerly "good" deal becomes less and less attractive. My order sheet came out to over $22k for the tC. And you pay sticker - no discounts.

Out of the three - I'd go Mazda 3, tC, xA. Throw the Focus in the mix, and either a leftover SVT or a new ST would get my vote.
