Thanks man. October 15-17th will be when the major work is done in preparation for tuning on the 18th. I'll definitely post the first start up vid!

Update 10/11/2010

Only one week till tuning time. This Friday & Saturday the build will be done! I picked up about 8ft of vacuum line for my BOV, manual boost controller and boost gauge yesterday. I also mounted my A-pillar gauge pod and gauges for the final time. My two U-bend pipes I ordered will be arriving at my house today. I still need to pick up a new exhaust manifold gasket, fresh oil/oil filter and one O2 senor plug for my downpipe.

Here are plans/schedule for the weekend:

Thursday night...
-Pick up manifold gasket, oil/oil filter, and O2 sensor plug

Friday...
-Get up early!
-Cut and fit U-bend pipe to complete piping from MAF sensor tube to throttle body
-Pull off Fuel Rail and install 42lb injectors and wiring harnesses
-Remove stock heat shield and exhaust manifold
-Mate the turbo and turbo manifold together
-Install turbo and manifold in car
-Install downpipe
-Finish charge piping from turbo to intercooler (halfway done already)
-Drain oil, remove oil filter, install Sandwich adapter, attach oil feed line
-Install oil filter and fit oil drain from turbo to stock oil plug location (already have fittings)
-Install BOV, MBC and hook up all vacuum lines
-Complete turbo intake piping
-Load base tune!
-Double check everything!
-Try to start it!

I will take a video and the first start up. Fingers crossed everything will go OK.

Question: Where should I reference the boost for my Manual Boost controller? Intake manifold or compressor housing? The MBC will see vacuum if referenced from the manifold; is that bad?

Intake manifold is a great place to reference boost. I hooked up a 6-port vacuum block to the intake manifold, utilizing the PCV line and hooked up my boost controller, BOV, and boost gauge to it.

Sweet. I think I'm going to run everything from the intake manifold....

Manifold ---> 'T' for BOV ----> 'T' for MBC and boost gauge

That way the MBC will get the actual manifold pressure as opposed to the compressor pressure.

Thanks for the tip bmylez.

Thumbs down Bad News

Well just my luck I encountered a snag on this project.

Seems I found out that the XCAL2 I have is still VIN locked to the previous owners car. Refer to thread HERE!

I now have to send the tuner to SCT to for it be unlocked. I thought about getting the XCAL3 but I just don't have the extra money for a new one plus pay for the turbo tuning.

So I'll have to get the RMA/unlocking process started with SCT and wait till it returns to actually make anymore progress.

New tune date set: November 15th, 2010

Will give me time to get the tuner sent out and back.

I have a F2 aluminum conversion flywheel coming this week also; will give the me the option to run the cheaper Zetec clutches! I was looking at the Centerforce Dual Friction unit for spirited street driving and maybe a run or two down the 1/4 mile.
