Disclaimer: all of the below is my opinion only. Everyone has their own taste and opinion that may not agree with my own. I am not the authority on anything, I just know what I like and have done lots of research.

No offense, but the Focus was built to be compared to the Civic (and anything else in the same class), and there are a lot more well-done Civics than there are Focuses. To call them "foreign pieces of shit" when the Focus is essentially the same car (and foreign, considering it's from Europe) is to call yourself ignorant.

I've never like painting interior panels because the paint wears far too easily compared to the dyed plastic. Also, the interior panels that everyone paints really don't lend themselves well to being displayed on their own... like the doorhandle surrounds or the corner vents on the dash. From a logical view of flow, they both should match the color of the dash. The same goes for the glovebox or the fuse panel cover, etc etc... just because a part is easily removable doesn't mean you should paint it.

What I've seen a couple people do is two-tone the dash, which keeps with the logical flow of the interior. The corner vents and gauge cluster surround would match the upper half of the dash (typically black, to prevent glare on the windshield from the sun), and the glovebox, fuse panel cover, radio surround, etc etc match the lower half of the dash. This also allows for flowing customization of the front doorpanels, too: the doorhandle surrounds and speaker grilles would match the lower half of the dash, and the upper portion of the doorpanels would match the upper half of the dash.

The idea is to keep the flow lines intact... every car has them cause that's what the designers draw first. All the other stuff like vents and compartments and buttons are the afterthought; so they should blend into the design, not overpower it. Painting all these individual parts does just that though: overpower the flow of the interior.

I've said this to a lot of people over the years who ask for advice: make a plan first and stick to it. It's easy to spend ten bucks here and there to mod your car, but you just end up with a car with a bunch of mods. Plan it out and don't cut corners though, and you end up with a well-executed design.

CaysE, couldn't have agreed w/you more.

and to the bold - you nailed it right on the head.

+1 rep for a well explained 'how-to' on modding the interior of a car to people like those who have posted in this thread.

Dude no one is bashing. We are just saying that its not our cup of tea and that it resembels the Fast and Ferrious look of the late 90's early 00's. Styles change and evolve. The bright colored interiors are not whats super hot anymore. Pick up any Honda, Import, Tuner magizine and you won't see any painted interiors anymore.

I can apperciate the work put into any car. And you've put work into your car and made it yours. If you like it than thats all that matters. You think I've never been bashed or told my car isn't ricey? I've been told that lots of times. But I have learned to take the good with the bad and mold a little of everyone's style into my own.

Okay, so my interior, although very different, is being raised up with the likes of CaysE's interior. My interior comes nowhere near the level of that. I humbly step aside. :-P

As for the painted interior parts.....

It can look okay if done professionally, and on parts that , like cayse said, flow. I've got my radio bezel painted, but it was done professionally, and it ties in the 3 colors of my interior.

Here is a hastilly done vector of how I would change all of that blue.

Mostly, just have it done professionally so it's super smooth and glossy, and bring the color onto other parts that are in different materials like the steering wheel and shift boot. I also added the silver gauge surrounds from an ST and SVT HVAC surrounds to bring in silver as a 3rd color to brake up the blue and black a little.

A product of my insomnia lol.

man i have painted parts in my car and it got old fast i ended up hateing it and removed the parts i could replace easy and repainted the ones i couldn't. it blue looks ok same color i use to have in mine but it just didn't flow whit what i was doing. so now i went with a black on black thing and im getting tired of that. i wish now in the long run i had kept it stock would have been much easyer and looked 1000X better.

C'mon guys. I made this thread to get new ideas and so that everyone can see other peoples "themes." No one's ever going to please everyone with what they like, but I don't want anyone not to post their pics because they don't want to get bashed. So please, compliment if you like or don't comment. Thank you.

Ok to those who have modded their interior what do you guys think of vinyl wraps? Just in general I mean. Do they tend to hold up well to daily wear? etc. etc. Thanks.

Sorry, you have to take the good with the bad and again no one is bashing in here. If you feel that you shouldn't post pics because your unsucure about your choice of moddding you have bigger issues.

Just like the paint, less is more. Don't over do it. ZX360 (josh) did a few CF vynil wraps for guys. Ask him how its holding up.
