No problem glad to help. I've changed at least a dozen timing belts on the Zetec's and SVT's so if you need any help or advice feel free to ask

Will do, I'll be keeping this thread open, in the garage, on my laptop, as I work on it, so I'll ask as soon as I run into anything LoL

Job is done, no issues, old belt wasn't even that bad. Tensioner bearing makes little noise, but not bad, changed em anyways. Glad its over with. and whoever at ford said to remove the cam gears, should be fired. there is no reason to remove them at all unless your removing the seal. other than that, leave the cam gears alone.

2003 with 57K miles, will change soon just due to age.

2004 with 76K miles. Will change before it goes back on the road, currently needs new wheel bearings all around and new haflshaft bearings.

I think 75K or 10 years is a good rule of .

2003 with 126,000 miles. Just dropped it off at the shop today.

I thought the planned mileage was 120,000, so I am not too late. I still drive the car hard every now and then. Wife sometimes drives the car and says she red lines it everywhere.

Car is strong like bull. Or I have been lucky.

Also having them put on cheap Fuzion UHP tires. I am hoping to drive this thing until 200k.

UPDATE: Shop said the belt looked pretty good for being 10 years old. Charged $413 for that job. $260 for the water pump. I have only driven a few miles but the Fuzions are much more quiet than worn out Wide Oval Indy 500 tires.

Would you be able to 'rent out' the special tools? (that is if you do use them for the bearings.)

for the timing belt (the crankshaft pin and the cam locking bar) you NEEEEED those proper tools! You could jimmy up a solution for the pin but the cam locking bar is a pretty specific thickness to be bang-on. I bought it.... made the job a breeze! worth every penny and some.... :)

The job should take you an entire day... or weekend (Depending on your skill level)

I've done it twice now and could bang it off in a day. Thinking of doing the Timing Belt again once I hit 300,000kms which is 50,000kms away!
