I would love to do PRP and self-tune, but at this point I want the damn thing to just WORK without any more headaches.

Well what are the chances of him seeing this thread? I'm never in this section myself. I just so happened to click on it the other day and checked back today to see new posts.

well at least I know where not to get my car tuned. I have never been a big fan of the remote tuning process anyway. I think it would be very hard to diagnose problems via email or even on the phone for that matter. An in person dyno tune is the only way to go IMO.

Guys, I wouldn't go THAT far...."well I know who NOT to go to for tuning." Out of the hundreds of customers or more that Tom has dealt with there have only been a couple problems I've heard of. Every business is going to have a problem with a customer from time to time.

And no, I'm not a fan of remote tuning. I don't have the time to do all that. I've only gone to Tom's shop in NC to get my car dyno tuned. I've done that a handful of times.

A good reason to not go to him might be the fact that he's retired and may not have the time or want to make the time to do tuning. Don't not go to him for tuning because you've heard of one customer's problems with him.

While this most likely true, this particular issue seems to be more and more common of a problem with tom his products and more specificaly his tunes. It is never a good thing when you have to stroke someones ego the entire time just to get them to finish your car. If I were tom the best way to resolve this situation is for him to get in contact with said customer and take however many hours it takes to make this 100% perfect in the eyes of the customer or give a FULL refund. In the process he may save a little face making everyone as happy as possible. While he, most undoubtly, will not I hope for his sake and the customer that he makes it right.

Sometimes I think in the back of my mind that it doesn't matter all that much to him. I mean sometimes I think he doesn't need to do whatever it takes anymore for customer satisfaction. I'm not sure Tom would do what was mentioned above. A few years ago, sure, but I don't know now.

He's retired. He doesn't really need the business or the money anymore obviously, at least I don't think. I could be wrong but that's something I thought about from time to time since he moved to Mexico.

I have tried to continue this with him many times. He has replied back that he wanted to finish the tune and get it right so that i am HAPPY.

When i tell him i want to do it, he tells me that he doesn't really remember where we were at. asks what we were last tuning.

I remind him of the corrupted file issue and how we stopped tuning after that happened because he couldn't go any further with a bad file (because he never saved a copy of anything). he said we would have to re-do the tuning from the start. he says he doesn't use cookie-cutter tunes that he tweaks, he does it all from the start.

He kinda doesn't respond anymore after that and that's it.
