I compared the two before. I'd actually say they could be close in price, but the Focus ST should still cost less in the end.
Which is good, because I prefer the ST to the WRX.

I really do like the WRX, it looks great, and I do like the 2.5 boxer engine. It feels aggressive and sounds good. AWD is nice, but if you're not in snow, and you're not launching off the line, then all it is doing is using more gas.

As MacAttack said, they'll probably be similar in cost. But you'd probably have nicer options in the ST for the same price levels as the WRX.

I did a quick hypothetical calculation of 22mpg (WRX) vs 30mpg (my ST speculation), then after 80,000 miles at $3.80 per gallon, you would have saved $3700 being in the ST.

Another piece of evidence. I went to Ford on-line and priced a new 2013 fwd Escape with 2.0 EcoBoost (Titanium) and with zero options it starts at $30,120. It looks like the 2013 Escape has lot's of Focus DNA in it. I know it's not the same vehicle but it is a new fwd 4 door Ford with 2.0 EcoBoost 19 inch wheels and a very nice interior....

I love it :). The roar of the v8 with only a muffler delete is intoxicating. A mis between exotic and old school muscle. I drove by the dealership and missed the focus for a couple minutes. Then i fired up my stang, heard the rumble and knew i made the right choice. I will someday pick up an orange zx5 svt to toy with!

I just spoke with one of my local dealers. He just received his advance sheet for the ST and was told by Ford to expect its release on October 1st.

Thanks for the heads up.

Fall is pretty much the general consensus. No offense, but until I see a press release from Ford, I'll takes your dealers word with a 5 lb block of salt!

I figure when talking about confidence in the word of a dealer, the expression "take it with a grain of salt" simply does not do the situation justice

Ford should have done everything in their power to release it this spring.
Offering a car that comes with summer tires standard right before winter? That's just dumb.

I agree on that point. But I don't think it will hurt sales just the same.

I think it will hurt sales.... Everyone buys more cars in nicer weather (I dont have a statistic to back that up but it seems almost common sense). Knowing that a car has summer only tires in cold/wet/snowy weather is a huge NO NO. We test drove a MS3 last winter (no snow on the ground but it was wet/cold) and there was NO traction because of the hard compound summers that are factory mounted. I was planning on making my car purchase this spring with the nicer weather. The only reason I bought the stang now was the 5500 I got off the sticker! If not for that I would have waited till it was nice out.

Greetings ! any canucks out there knowing when to expect the ST released to Canada ?
I am very excited to get behind the wheel of one. If I could only get used to those rear tailights but nonetheless this is one hot hatch !!
