$98995.00 !? Thats not a deal....thats a steal....lol so if someone walked into a ford dealer and tried to order one, does that mean they would get it before the regular st is even out!?

Yeah, the ST-R will be available in January. The ST? Late 2012... If it doesn't get pushed back AGAIN.
You'd have to order the ST-R from a Ford Racing dealer, not all dealerships will be able to order it for you. Thankfully, there's a search function on the Ford Racing website.

I intend to buy one once they are available. I'll have to sell my little 5-speed Fiesta so I hope the Focus ST is worth the change.

And FINALLY, they've told us what's causing the delay. I'm really looking forward to seeing this car in showrooms (and maybe even my driveway).

I was very happy reading that Car and Driver article as well. I love the attention to detail and the amount of commitment and enthusiasm the design team has toward making this a great car.

I expect driving dynamics to be far sharper and refined in comparison to the MS3 and the WRX. The ST should handle better, and easier, than both of them. The GTI may have similarly good driving dynamics but is much slower than the three above mentioned cars.

On a different note, just for the fun of it, most people seem to say that in a straight line race (stock for stock), a WRX would handily beat an MS3 from a dig. From a roll, usually the MS3 can pull out the win. The ST, being fwd, in this situation would be similar to the MS3 but with 15 less hp.

The C&D article was good, sounds like the ST could be the new hot hatch king, combining the best qualities of the current top dogs. Will be interesting to see what the redesigned wrx, gti, and ms3 look like, all due this year (well possibly next year for ms3). The wrx is rumored to get smaller and lighter and get a 2.0T with 270+ hp, the gti is rumored to get a hp bump up to 220+, and the ms3 is rumored to get the sky activ turbodiesel with 310+ torque. Big year for hatches!
