I was basing it off this comment:

There had been prior fwd svts. SVT Will continue to be the United States performance group. The ST is the new Global performance group, a merger of SVT and RS.

Does it really matter what badge it's under? It's just trivial semantics. Either way the SVT/ST version of the Fiesta and Focus needs to hurry its ass up! And it needs to come with a PowerShift option this time (with real paddle shifters)... :-P

I was referring to the future, not the past. And Josh Capito, who runs SVT/RS (its one group now) and is in charge of all performance models has stated that SVT will be retained for larger RWD applications, like the Mustang, Raptor, etc, and possibly a larger AWD application. ST/RS will be for smaller FWD/AWD applications.

You mean the Ford Mondeo ST200? It should have been called an ST too... Ford is unifying these two lines, this is again, why I am saying we won't see an SVT Focus or Fiesta.

We just have to wait for 13 months to get it.
Welcome to the thread, this has only been stated like 13,000 times.

The arguing is because many (including the original writter of this article) have this thing for elevating the SVT f driver, while at the same time (I am sure without meaning it - putting others down).

I remember many svt drivers saying the st is almost an svt w/o the v for velocity... what happens now?! The new bandwaggen is - We love the ST - it's made by svt.

It called svt (for special vechicle team) not svd (special vehicle driver:)

I am really considering buying the new ST - because it will replace my current ST - which I bought because it was the closest brand new Focus we could buy in this side of the pond to the euro ST.

Since 05 - the American ST was the performance version of the Focus, fortunately starting in 2012 the ST will be the performance Focus again, until they bring the RS??? if the market allows we'll see!

The point is I am not a svt f driver!!!! I made my choice when I passed on a svt back in 07 to instead buy an ST----- & guess what???? An ST is still what I want!

SVT focus is history get over it! Someday the ST will be too it's life!!!

Just for a quick survey, how many would love to drive an ST and are NOT svt drivers?

^Taking it a little personal?

The point that you're missing is that the article mentions SVT owners because there hasn't been a performance hatch available since '04. The ST is a great car in it's own right but now everyone can rejoice at a performance hatch coming that trumps both SVTs and STs.

I sold my SVTF to get an ST, but had they offered an ST hatch, I would have for sure bought it over the sedan. Any SVT owner that says an ST is slower, is right, stock vs. stock, but once an ST gets bolt ons, (with the SVTF doesn't really accept) an ST will destroy an SVT, its not even close.

Yah, stock for stock the ST might be a hair slower vs the SVT...

but not when I'm drivin'!!! bolt-on's would just ensure my win.
