Posted via FF Mobile The focus comes with more standard features and tech then it's competitiors. Also overall quality is better then most IMO. Then of course you have the focus driving dynamics, which certainly trump the competition and non of them come with torque vectoring.

Well... I wouldn't say it comes with more standard features than its competitors. I'd say it's comparable for its price point. In other words it has caught up to its competitors in overall quality and value. Depending on what features you want (appearance, handling, performance, convenience, technology, etc.), you'll find that the Focus and its competitors are balanced out pretty evenly with different tradeoffs.

One example I can give right off the bat is the lack of alloy wheels and rear disc brakes on the base and SE trims. It's a glaring omission that's really hard to ignore. Manufacturers like Mazda, Hyundai, and Kia offers that standard all around. The Golf and Impreza both make more horsepower and torque at the SE's price point, but of course both sacrifice a few tech features also (the Impreza more so, but having AWD).

And while torque vectoring is nice, it's just a glorified form of stability control that eliminates the engine braking process. Sort of like the electronic differential systems found on some newer sport trim cars. Which is definitely awesome, but the 2012 Focus engine is already pretty tame with its horsepower/torque figures. I don't think we'll see it truly shine until the ST comes out.

Remember that the Honda Civic is the #1 compact, and has been for a very long time. This is mainly because Honda built a quality car and has maintained that quality regardless of temptation to earn higher profits. In comparison, Ford now has the #1 quality car, which offers much more in terms of standard features, options, and don't forget Style!

Still prefer the SVTF more, and wish they made a true successor to it. But I think that's a position for the Fiesta ST to fill, IF it'll come out for the American market.

Look at how deep the divide is between ST- and SVT-lovers is! (Kidding)

But what if Ford dared to make an SVT-ST!? They could pony it up with a few extra goodies like... ummm.... like... well, I'm not sure yet. But they could have the "base model" ST and then make like 500-1000 really tricked-out SVT-STs.

Hey, if I ran Ford that's what I would do!

You guys need to study up more. They are making the performance models more equal across the world. The SVT focus should have never been, it should have been called the ST170, as it was in Europe. There will not be an SVT Focus ever again. There will be the ST and maybe an RS...

SVT = RWD applications
ST = FWD applications

The rumor is that RS will be AWD applications, but that an SVT awd vehicle could happen in larger applications.
so RS could = AWD Focus
but SVT = AWD explorer or something like that.

The 2012 ST is a combined effort of SVT in Dearborn and the Focus Euro team that has developed the world car platform. The new ST is a true performance car with EcoBoost power to match chassis and brakes and available Recaro's. The separation of SVT and Europe was causing problems since Europe was ahead of us with different models not available in the US. This new ST will be available worldwide. We just have to wait for 13 months to get it.
