More like they done because the cobalt in general is done...it's been replaced by the cruze. An SS is rumored to appear in the near future.

Some of you guys need to spend 3 minutes looking at car prices, cars are not as cheap as they once were. Here is the base price for the obvious Focus ST competitors. Prices are for zero option, w/ destination. Some cars may have rebates or room to haggle, but this is the list price!

2011 Mini Cooper S- $24.2k
2011 Mazdaspeed3- $24.5k
2011 GTI 4-door- $25k
2011 WRX- $26.2k
2011 Ralliart- $28.5k

2011 Mustang GT- $30.5k

My vote for a base Focus ST is $26k.

I figure I'm going be spending right around $27k-28k for my Focus ST cause I'm prob going want it loaded. Imagine even after my employee discount (I sell Focuses myself) if the price is at say MSRP of 28k I'd prob pay around 25k.

I wanna know how all these under 30 kids that want this are gonna afford a $27K car payment. .....cause ur not.
In a rough yr I'll earn right around $65,000 this yr I expect to earn around $85,000 I'm 21 and single. I can afford a 27k car payment. Comes out to around $550 a month.

In croatia ST will cost 40000 US dollars which is 30000 EURO.
Now the same price is For VW Golf GTI!!!
GTI in USA costs 24000 US dollars BUT is has old (Mk5) engine, platform, transmission etc. while Focus has ALL NEW platform, engine, transmission.....
I think 26000 US dollars will be price of ST in USA!
V8, 4.0 L, 420 hp, 6 speed manual, rear wheel drive, coupe, REDLINE AT 8400 rpm = 2007 BMW M3 E92 - new will be turbo, shame

Just saw this...

I'm 26 and I could easily afford to buy an ST right now. Hell I could buy a 5.0 right now if I felt like it. I graduated college when I was 22, and have been working 4 years. Plenty of kids in their twenties make good money.

Oh, and love that I'm in your sig!

I've always thought the Speed3 is a bank for the buck value as well as the WRX, the non-STI version is really close in all performance categories to the STI.

Both of those are gas suckers as bad as the 5.0

Ditto! My friend and I road tripped from DC to Detriot, over the weekend, it looked awesome!

I have always been guessing $26-28k for it when it comes out. Which is really tough, it is very sexy and awesome. But if it's the same price as the WRX? Honestly I may lean towards the Focus ST anyway, since I feel like the WRX is settling. I'd rather go for the STI, a turbo back exhaust, intake, and Cobb tune. (yeah I know totally different price range) I will confess I did spend a significant amount of time sitting in the STI at the show.

And as far as car prices, I'll second Kylesvt720. Everyone has different jobs and priorities, but in general I'd say a mid 20's single guy with a decent job should be able to swing an ST.

It's all a matter of priorities. My personal financial priorities involve my house/mortgage, riding Ducati's, and skydiving. If I gave all that up, I could be rolling around in a new M3 for much less then my mortgage for example, but I prefer to enjoy my SVTF daily driver & Mazdaspeed Miata as my budget sports car. I am a single guy and just turned 28 in December.

My friends gave me crap for having 4 vehicles; I pointed out all 4 of my vehicles added up to less than the new G37S I helped another friend shop for. So it's a matter of choices and standard of living. I'll gladly choose 2 fun & practical cheaper cars and be able to keep my Ducati's over owning something crazy sexy cool, like the new 1 Series M I drooled all over in Detroit!

For the Focus ST, figure <$600 payment, and probably another $80-130/month for insurance for a less than 30 year old guy, that's not that much depending on your standard of living.

The kicker for me personally is that when the time comes, I may cave and pick up a used MS3 for $15k range and get a Ducati 848 track bike too and end up spending less on both than a new Focus ST.

Till then since I did all the work on my SVTF, it's riding like new, and I love it!

I've ALWAYS driven used vehicles and let the previous owner/owners take the big hit. But IF I can trust that Ford has the bugs worked out in the initial release, this car MIGHT be the one to get me to take the new car plunge (and the biggest depreciation). Prior to my Focus I drove a lightly-modded '97 Escort and THAT was the car that changed my mind about domestics...
