2010 Mustang GT = Fail, haha. I likely won't be looking to pick up an ST for about 18 months anyway, have to get the old ST done first. I'd rather have the new ST over a 2011 Mustang V6, but I have a feeling they are going to be found for sub 20k in about 18 months. (Used obviously) but that would be a tempting car to buy.

whew man i can't wait for this thing to come to the US. I'll probably get rid of my boosted 03 svt for this thing.

One of the things i love about focus is that people are like "Oh, it's just a focus.." They don't expect it to have amazing power/handling.

Now, if we could only get them to bring a 3 door ST to the US...

Wow guys, have a look at this: http://www.ford.co.uk/Cars/FutureVehicles/Ford-Focus

The UK site seems to say:

"To ensure classic ST handling, the new Focus ST has a lowered chassis, revised steering system and unique suspension tuning. Technological advancements like Torque Vectoring Control improve cornering stability and road holding to take driving quality to the next level while the Ford PowerShift dual clutch automatic transmission ensures swift, smooth gear changes with no loss of power."

Note the mention of a dual clutch gearbox in the ST?

I wonder if that confirms the ST will have a dual clutch option, or if it was just a copy-paste from the normal Focus's information that they didn't bother to check.

What do you guys think?

Not going to get my hopes up because as far as I know right now the powershift dry clutch system that we are getting isn't able to handle the kind of power the ST will throw out. It be awesome if they did have it, but probably a copy and paste mix up.

I know exactly what you mean. I was bored and watching a stupid movie called "Fired up" the other day and there was a scene where something was said like we'll all stand around like dummies looking at a Ford focus!!! WTF??? If it wasn't for all the T & A I would have turned it off right then,LOL.

The ST is overpriced.
Why?
Because this car is so much faster and its only a few thousand more.
But the St comes with led headlights and heated seats and rain sensing wipers and sync system and yada yada yada. What does that car come with.
Um...power windows, single cd sound system, some other stuff...but who cares its got awd and is soooo fast.
Oh...so it comes with pretty much less equipment then a compact kia does?
....ITS SO FREAKING FAST, i can rape mustangs and vettes!
Right...
Exactly. As I have stated in other posts, enthusiasts looking for a performance vehicle do NOT give two craps about heated seats, rain sensing wipers, my touch and all that other BS. I have NEVER seen or even heard of ONE enthusiast looking to buy a performance model and then backing out because they couldnt get heated seats or rain sensing wipers Thats absurd. If you are going to use these BS options to justify why the Focus should be thousands more than a more powerful and better handling AWD car thats fine, most people looking to buy this car wont agree and look elsewhere.

Tell you what. Go to an unbiased forum for performance vehicles and take a poll. Ask if they would rather have a WRX, a Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart, an MS3, a GTI or a Focus ST priced thousands above all of those models and see how many people pick the Focus. You would be lucky to get 15% of the vote. Then try to sell them on the Focus just because it will have heated seats, rain sensing wipers and my sync and wait for the laughter.

Paying $30k for a car that doesn't have all of that is dumb in my opinion. The Focus won't be priced way above all of these. Ever optioned out a GTI? Its over 30k, ever optioned out an MS3? $28k, ever optioned out a WRX? I can go on and on, if this car is $30k fully loaded, its right on par.

As for stating your opinion as fact, move to MI and see how important things like heated seats, heated mirrors, etc are. I won't buy a car without heated seats, period. They are awesome to have in the winter. You don't understand heated seats or rain sensing wipers because you live in a place that's always warm, where it basically never rains. Its the equivalent of saying cars don't need A/C or windows that roll down. I'd be fine with that most of the year in MI, you'd hate it in Socal.

I can see what you're trying to say... but face it. You're not getting a stripped down racer with cheap plastic interiors. Not for awhile at least.

The Evo and WRX/Sti should offer a little bit more in the interior department for the money if you ask me. Realistically, people spend more time in their cars driving to work or school, not the track or dragstrip. 300 HP and AWD aren't going to do jack squat for you when you're sitting in traffic moving a mile an hour.

I don't mind the availability of a DSG type transmission, I just don't like when it's the only option like it was on the most recent R32's. A DSG is not only heavier, but much more expensive, so I hope that they keep it available with a 6 spd.

And here is a cool video about the TVC in another forum thread:

Right. You and Kyle both have good points. We get great weather here most the year in SoCal so yea, heated seats, mirrors and things that can sense rain seem dumb haha. You have a point with sitting in traffic but you are confusing two types of cars, commuter cars and performance cars. Why would anyone who sits in traffic every day buy a performance vehicle? Thats stupid on their part. Those of us who are enthusiasts and want speed an nice handling cars usually arent using it as a commuter for a 9-5 job. Thus we dont sit there doing 5mph and wishing we had upgraded interiors, that crap just adds weight People who need a commuter car are going to buy the base model Focus or the base Impreza or the base Lancer and add comfort features, they are not going to spend for performance options they will rarely use. Just as an enthusiast isnt going to pay thousands extra for comfort features they wont care about.
