Otherwise it'll still make an outstanding street car that will give the MazdaSpeed3 some serious competition. That's why I think it stands out in a class of its own, versus the STI/EVO everyone is comparing it to.

Are there any links that detail the 2012 Focus ST's EcoBoost engine? I can't find any info on it through, aside from vague press releases. I'm not aware of too many turbocharged cars that run 87 octane. Actually I can't name any off the top of my head. I'd be impressed if what you say is true. I have a feeling that you're referring to a "flex fuel" type setup though, which still means the engine isn't tuned to optimally run on 87 anyway.

Posted via FF Mobile Moose, the ecoboost engines do infact run off 87 octane. The ecboost v6 has been out for a while so you should know that runs off regular. Not sre about the ST but Im sure it will too. BUT, i believe they can run off premium also for slight, and I mean a slight increase in power.

You would think that running on 87 octane would produce all sorts of knock.....

not because of DI... DI allows for the fuel charge to enter the combustion chamber, whenever... regaurdless of the intake valves being open or closed.

I like this, but I'd prefer a 2 door coupe or a 3 door HB.
Why a performance model would require so many doors is beyond me.

Eh, I would prefer the 5 door hatch myself, I have driven a coupe for a while and it is really annoying to keep moving the seats forwards to let people in the back (I have more than two people in my car a lot of the time).

What I really want to see is a Powershift option with paddle-shift. If Ford announces that as an option I would buy this car the second it is available on the market. What do you guys think is the chance of them adding a dual-clutch gearbox as an transmission option?

5-door or 3-door, I'd pick the 3, but I could be content with the 5...

as for the DSG... not likely... ford has nothing in place to handle the torque of the new EB 2.0... they could... maybe in a years time or so.... but jost was pretty clear that it was to be a 6-speed rowboat...

the only thing I really want is double over drive... I don't need to be spinning 3K... just driving...
