Putting those sensors behind the rear-view mirror also blocks out the sun, because sun visors are never wide enough nowadays.

I was also wondering if Ford is going to walk away from the interior light treatments like this current years model. I didn't see it mentioned through any of the blogs written on the '12 Fofo.

As far as what I've read, not for the ST. I think they are worried about the powershift holding 260ft/lbs of TQ.

From the linked Autoblog article:

As for transmissions, Ford is offering its six-speed Powershift dual-clutch automatic as the standard unit, though a five-speed manual (yes, five-speed) is available. If you want the manual, you'll have to make due with the S or SE trim levels, though a select shift function is standard on the SEL and Titanium (without steering-mounted paddle shifters, natch).

Although I find it very hard to believe that the base model will come with a "standard" PowerShift transmission. But if it's true and if the price stays around $17k, that's pretty damn awesome!! I'm still skeptical and I think they meant that the PowerShift transmission will replace the "traditional" automatic transmission of the previous generation.

Posted via FF Mobile Powershift is the automatic transmission and is standard. A manual transmission is optional for certain trims...word is its not available on titanium and possibly SEL trim. Other companies have taken this route and now offer the manual as an option, sometimes for same cost, sometimes more.

That is great news! Wow I'm psyched if that's true. And its price range is close to the Fiesta. Which begs the question why anyone would want a Fiesta? I hope they offer a 3-door trim and lower the price of the Fiesta further. That might help spread the pricing out between the classes.

Because the base model focus will still be thousands more then a base fiesta. Also remeber 17k will get you a base model focus...most likely that means steelies, rear drum brakes, no sync. All youll probably get is a car with power windows and door locks...not much else. For alittle more then 17 you can get a fiesta in ses trim. Alittle less then 17 you get a SEL sedan. The cars pricing will be spaced out and will not be comparable. If the focus starts at 17k for the base model sedan...then you can guess the hatch will be closer to 19k and any sort of options will push it over 20k...which for that money you can get a fully loaded fiesta.

I'm just hoping the ST stays under $25K, cause the Mazda Speed3 base starts at $24K, and runs up to about $27K very nicely equipped. I really want one of these (test-drive pending...lol)

I'm just confused about why the Fiesta doesn't come with a standard PowerShift transmission, if the 2012 Focus will. A base Fiesta SE hatchback with PowerShift transmission already costs around $17k. At least's that how they price them around my area. If I'm paying that much for a Fiesta, I might as well should get a roomier Focus. I know what you're saying but it just doesn't add up. I think they're just marking the Fiestas up since they're still new, and they'll do the same for the Focus when they're first released. Maybe it'll take a while for the true price to be reflected within actual dealerships.

Posted this in a new thread HERE but I'm a little confused by the videos from the Paris Auto Show. Will the production 2012 Ford Focus ST have smoked tails?
