True 'nuff but just to let you know where I'm coming from, I speculated that the ST would be capable of ~23 city and ~35 highway. That's not too obscenely unbelievable, is it? But Mr. kam327 scoffed and went after me for such a crazy thought. Well, sometimes turnabout is fair play. If you wanna dish some out, be prepared to get some back sometimes...

And Ron, I'm with you in speculating (= not guaranteeing) that the car will be capable of better than 7 second sprints to 60. I believe 6.5s or better should (almost) certainly be possible...

I get ya' but I'm just antsy for this car to come out and with the offerings from Hyundai,Mazda and Subaru and the new Toybaru cars it's simply a good time for car enthusiasts period no matter what you like.

Not to burst any bubbles, but the mpg estimates in Europe are heavily flawed. They're always higher than US estimates, and rarely reflect real world usage.

I keep telling this , if my 2.5 liter 5 speed vw jetta can get 34 mpg then my st will get the same with ecobost and 6 speed

My jetta milage estimates are closer to the Euro ratings then the EPA...i get 7 mpg over the epa mpg on the highway....epa mpg says 28 mpg and i get 34mpg

I just read Ford is saying the ST will do 0-60 in 'about 6 seconds'. If their underestimation of horsepower ratings are any indication, I'm betting 0-60 will be in the high 5's. . . . I'm sure the 15 second over-boost on the turbo will be good for great 1/4 mile times, probably what it was designed for. Wig

I ordered my Silver ST3 w/moonroof today! Got it for 'dealer cost' which is invoice + destination + fuel charge + advertising assessment, so $28,135. That's 1690 under MSRP, even adding tax, title and all it's still less than MSRP. There are probably better deals out there, but I'm pretty happy with mine.
Now the waiting begins. Wait, I mean the waiting CONTINUES! I've been waiting on Ford to release this car for almost 2 years now... Looks like my '03 SVT may be pushing 185k before I pass it along to my nephew. Might be just in time for Christmas.

Going to wait a year and see what the real world results are. Also should give more time to the rumors of a new Focus RS as well. If the RS comes to fruition, then the ST will go to the wayside. The ST is a fantastic looking car though, and it should do Ford fans proud.

I really hope high to even mid 5s with a little stickier rubber which is why if I was buying this car MPGs wouldn't be my main concern. I really like the look but wish it was AWD and it would be able to compete better with the WRX and with some tuning an STI.

This is one car that does look a little different than other hatches as I get alot of people that are surprised it's a Focus.

I do believe that on the track, it will be able to handle much better than the WRX. And, while the ST has less peak horsepower (13hp less), it does have more torque (26 lb-fts), and it has a very flat torque curve. In fact, for most rpms, the Focus ST is laying down more power and torque than the WRX. There's just a small area where for just a few rpms, the WRX hits a higher horsepower number before dropping.

For Ford to get the Focus ST to handle as well as it does now, but with awd, it would have made this car very expensive. Not to mention the increase in weight and decrease in gas mileage.
