Sorry about the glare on the windows...They had it locked up so it was hard to get a shot of the interior. Now that I see the pics it does look like leather on the recaros (with possibly a suede or alcantra trim?)

The rear end of that car sure is hot! The front end is still growing on me.

I am over in DeKalb, not too far from you!

Active park assist, including front and rear parking distance sensors and powerfold door mirrors

Sony DAB Audio System with 9 premium speakers

Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone and Voice Control System with USB/iPod® connectivity port

Driver's front seat with power height, fore/aft adjustment and recliner

Heated Front seats

Partial leather-trimmed seats

Thatcham Category 1 perimeter and volume-sensing alarm (a "real" alarm system)

It may be comparing apples to oranges but a US Titanium would easily cost $24K~$25K with these standard features.

If the Titanium X sells for 21,495 GBP and the ST will have a base price of 24,000 GBP, expect the ST to start at $27K here.

From Auto Express:
A DAY in the passenger seat of the new Focus ST has made us even more excited about getting behind the wheel. It's fast and clearly has a big appetite for corners. On this evidence, you won't have to be a committed fast Ford fan to appreciate its poise, performance, grip and agility. When the ST hits the road later this year, it will be hot property - and our current favorite hot hatch, the Volkswage Golf GTI, will face its toughest challenge yet.

This makes me happy >:3

Also:
The Focus is as quick as it sounds, with the acceleration enough to pin you back into the body-hugging seats as we blast out of second-gear corners. Paul says the car can do 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds...so it's easy to believe Paul when he says the new ST is faster than the old model. The outgoign car could lap the Nurburgring in eight minutes, 35 seconds. While he claims not to have time the new car around the famous track, he estimate a time of 8m20s is easily within its grasp.

It's a very good article, imo. Though it doesn't touch on any first person driving experiences(only a ride-along) it's still got enough content to keep me excited and looking forward to September <3

This obviously just speculation, but with a base price of $27k I'm not buying it. GTI starts at $24k, MS3 can be had for 25k without negotiating, $27k is Mustang GT territory, and the WRX starts just under $26k. Yes, these are apples to oranges comparisons, but at the end of the day the Focus ST has a lot of pretty good competitors that sell for less.

I'm going to guess it starts at $25k in order to be competitive. At this price point it's (just barely) within my reach, and a lot of other people in the target demographic will be able to afford it as well.

Don't kid yourselves. Unfortunately, it's going to be a $30,000 dollar focus. And if that's the case, then Ford has already shot themselves in the foot because any smart person would buy an evo or sti for that much. Also, their second mistake was making this another front wheel drive car. It would be so much better if it was rwd or awd but noooooo. Smh.

Oh so this blue model had the projector headlights and the full leather Recaros. Looks good, but I will definitely be going for partial leather Recaro seats. It was nice seeing the red Recaros in that Auto Express article.

As for what people took of my Euro price comparison, I was trying to say that the more important comparison was that the magazine speculated a price lower than GTI in Europe. Comparing prices of model trims between Euro and US is extremely inaccurate.

But this certainly is a delicate price range. There are too many good cars as someone already mentioned. I think it sure is a fine apples to apples comparison between the other hot hatches, WRX, or even mustangs. They're all performance cars at an affordable price, each with its own bit of practicality... except the Mustang of course.

Oh and MacAttack left out one other stat that the Auto Express magazine article listed. They SPECULATE 37 mpg! I think that's an optimistic estimate, and I believe Euro mpg estimates are generally a bit higher than our EPA estimates. But that sure is encouraging!

Evo/STI vs. Focus ST? Talk about apples and oranges.

Sure, either of those would smoke a ST but the feel is completely different.

I am strongly considering a ST whereas I wouldn't give an Evo or STI a second thought (it has nothing to do with $$$).
As I stated previously, the ST is the wrong car for those who worry about about numbers (HP, 0-60, etc.) or which BOV to install.

I hope you are right about the high price (to keep the kiddies away) but I would guess that the starting price will be closer to $26K.

...yeah, no. the reason for FWD has been discussed and explained many times. Far as price I am sure if you load it up with every option you could top 30k, but we have been talking base price, not fully loaded top end.
