Honestly I'm going to tell you not to do it.

I'm in the Reserves right now..and there's honestly (from my experience) nothing that the Army can do for you that you can't do for yourself. Other than send you to war.

I wish I had never done it. I loved BCT/AIT but the Reserves is f-ing garbage.

If anything, go active duty Air Force. I don't know anyone who is or was active AF and doesn't/didin't like it.

The reserves is what you make of it, and from the sounds of it you are in a bad unit and unfortunately that does happen.

yep yep. their is nothing wrong with the reserves. that was one of my first choices when looking for a branch to join. i liked the idea of getting to be home more then if i went active. but at the time i had been out a job for over a year and my recruter told me it was a better choice to go active so thats what i did. and if i haden't gotten hurt i would be getting ready to deploy soon so. i miss the army but not the desert..lol

Wow......if I were a prospect looking to join a type of service, from all the whining and bitching piling up here, I'd think twice about the Army and strap my balls on, then go join the United States Navy. ................

Yeah. That's part of it.

It's amazingly lame when you show up every month, and have to do the same paperwork for 10hours that you spent 10 hours doing last month because in the off time, some stupid 42A lost it all.

Oh, and shitty NCO's don't help much either. Luckily, my Squad Ldr. is awesome. But my unit has more than 1 piss poor NCO. Like the ones that haven't passed a PT test in years, but are always on soldiers' asses for not passing PT..those are my favorites.

I spent some time in the Navy and from what i learned is go officer if you join any branch. Ofcourse you need a degree for that, good luck on whatever you decide.

Go officer........is that the best advice out there. I had fresh boot Ensigns and Lts try to lead from the rear, with a sheepskin saying they were leaders......2 ended up blown to friggin bits and the others were ignored by the enlisted folks. Mainly due to no knowledge of what they were doing......so yeah, go officer, but use your head and lead from the front.
