obd 2 port on my svt?

It isnt powering up my snapon scanner. any other newer modle car you plug it in with key in on position and it fires up. It wont do this is on my svt focus. I have to hold down the power button the whole time im pluged into the car, if i let go it turns off. why is there no power to my obd 2 port? anybody have this problem or is my car just messed up. i have no problem getting in and communicating with the car but it just wont power the scanner on its own. thanks for any help.

On some cars, the OBDII connector gets power from fuses such as the power point or cigarrete lighter, if the fuse is blown, it wont power up your scanner. So it could be your car, check some fuses, it should either be a 15 or 20 amp mini fuse... Are you sure the scanner powers up?
