^Yes a pot would be very helpful. So everyone can help chip in on cost!

He's my concern. Ok in order for the LEDs to show light through only the design in the glass, it needs to be embedded into the glass(etched) so that the light traveling through the glass can have a spot to shine. Idk if putting some sort of sticker will shine like the way we want it. I think the best way for the sign to work is if the design is embedded into the glass or plexiglass.

Chuck, im not sure if thats a sticker on the sign in the pictures you have. I think thats actually whats called etch cream. Etch cream is just a cream and once you put it on the glass it creates a frost ecth look. Etch cream is the frowned upon technique of etching.

^^ that will help and dean, I'll break open the sign to show you how it's done. you don't need leds embedded into the plastic, all you'll need is the top face of the leds, sitting against the edge of the plexi glass and the light will only bounce and reflect off of the etching itself. The rest of the light will shine towards the edges of the plexi glass itself.

so that's why the edge of the glass and the vinyl will glow. im sure we can etch our design on plexiglass, i found out that the lettering on the open sign wasn't vinyl but some sort of etching. But as far as the power goes, i like the AA batteries idea.

actually a vertical standing plexi sign will be more bad ass than it being horizontal. I like that

i think i'll be the first to try the etching idea out tomorrow. Ill buy some plexiglass from home depot, btw we can get a 36x48 for less than $50, and etch out our design on a small piece of plexi. Then use the lighting from the open sign, to illuminate it. Im pretty stoked about it
