That does sound like a bad ass job. To bad we don't use cannons though.

I spent nine yrs in the Navy and enjoyed every bit of it. I only went on the water in LCAC(hovercraft) and Amphibs. Flew everywhere by chopper or C130s.......Lots of travel, lots of fun and one hell of a thing to put on a resume.

I am applying to get into the Navy as a Naval Flight Officer to hopefully become a pilot, I am aiming to fly something like the E-2C Hawkeye or of course I would LOVE to fly an F/A-18 Hornet, but who knows. I take my ASTB on July 1st so wish me luck haha.

Well the Navy is downsizing. This is both good and bad. You must perform well within all their standards or they will kick you out. I have seen many great older senior ranking sailors get kicked out for very dumb admin reasons. I have been in the Navy 3 years now and have decided its not for me. My Dad is about to retire from Air Force so iv been military all my life.

The Navy is not as "cool" and laid back it used to be. Its all politics. Oh and you will mostly be doing cleaning rather than anything else. We are mostly just janitors with a security clearance... LOL. While you do get to do some pretty cool things and see lots of amazing things, make sure that your ok from being away from family for about 8 months at a time, come back for a few months and then go out for a few more. EXTREMELY tough for families...

Oh and don't think you wont be a "soldier" because they constantly send sailors over to afghan all the time. I hate it but i also love the experience i have had and you'll make good friends.
