Best- All of it!!! I loved the challenges and was getting paid doing it.
Worst- DI walked in and said " I don't believe in pushups or situps. I believe in jumping jacks.....500 four count, begin." We made it rain in the building that night and many others.

The Army goes through the gas chamber. I just went through it in Feb I think it was at Fort Leonard Wood, we were in there for 2-3 minutes. Our DS had us do the regular name, rank, and ssn. But after that we had to do side shuttle hops to make sure we got a big breath of the CS.
At the time basic sucked but looking back at it now it was probably the funnest 9 weeks. Then AIT was better shooting the MK-19

I'm surprised so many people thought the NBC training was the worst part, but I didn't have to do jumping jacks in the shit. I just remember being in and out of it pretty quick. I coughed and drooled all over myself but was only exposed for as long as it took me to speak my name, rank and SSN I think. I remember though that there was one guy who did something to piss off the DS (he later choked out a girl, got demoted) and DS made him keep repeating it over and over, even though he was speaking clearly. He got into some hot water over that.

In reality the worst part for me was adapting to the running. I was 6'2" and probably 190 but had been smoking for a few years, just couldn't get used to the running.

The best part was graduation and knowing it was mostly downhill at AIT.

Ah the gas chamber. I've been on both sides of it now. Once as a recruit and several times as a DS. It's fun to watch, especially the ones that inside their masks. Don't worry, we gave them time to clean themselves up. It's still entertaining, though.
