remote central locking not working.

i have a 2002 3dr focus and have an issue with my remote central locking, the drivers door doesnt unlock....the passenger door intermitantly does though.

i have replaced the battery in the key fob but still no joy.

the central locking does work though with the key in the door.

does anyone have any ideas what might be the issue here??

More electrical gremlins eh?
You say the central locking works with the key. Is that locking ALL doors with the key? You only mentioned 'unlocking', can we assume you can lock the car OK with the keyfob?

Sorry the remote central locking doesn't lock or unlock, the remote will only pop open the boot using the boot pop button.

Could be a faulty fob. If you can obtain a new or good secondhand unit, they can be programmed to work with the car. It is unlikely you have faults with both the door motors, but stranger things have happened. Have you also checked the fuse? Sounds like the previous owner left a legacy of electrical problems for you!

It did work first time I test drove the car, I got it cheap through my work as a part x so don't mind doing a few bits to sort it out! How easy are the fobs to get coded to the car? And do the key fobs from eBay work??

They are very easy to code. A quick search on the Forum should get you a procedure- or try Google. Ebay- you can be lucky with what you buy, or not.

So they don't need to be taken to ford to be coded then?? That's good..
Maybe il look into getting a new fob then, and try that first !
By fob I take it you mean just the buttons part of the key?

Yes, as you know from changing the battery, the key part comes away from the electronics. You need not buy new ,if you can locate a good secondhand one to try. It may not be your problem- just one thing to eliminate. Good luck.
