Clunking noise on my Kona? What is it?

Ok so I just went and took a look at the Kona I was planning to buy this weekend (and I still am). The lady told me like a week ago, the right front end started making a clunking noise while you drive. The car was still riding fine, so I test drove it, no problems. She was planning to take it in to the dealership on Thursday and have them check it out. what do you guys think the problem may be? it is a constant clunk noise, only while you are driving, not idling. It sounds like something may be rubbing up against something else, but I'm not sure.

Has anyone ever heard of something like this on the Focus?

As for the condition of the car, its pretty good. Its a 2000 Ford Focus Kona 5-spd (silver). It has a few scratches, but no dings/dents. The interior is also good. Has 43000 miles on it. I like it.

Um.. aren't the 2000's the ones that had the recall for bad motor mounts? Don't know about it since it's a Kona though, probably the same mounts though.

Anyways, see if all the recalls have been done... there's a few for the 2000 Focus.

I checked the VIN on Ford's website, and it says there are no recalls for the vehicle.

Could be the CV's[constant velocity joints]. Let the gal get the dealer to fix it. They'll take care of it no prob.

Don't know. Call the service department at any Ford dealer. They'll give you a quote. Way cheaper than an import make guaranteed.

Check to make sure all the wheels are mounted good. also check the front inner fenders for rubs. Whatever it is, make sure its fixed by the dealer before you buy it.

Hey good call on the kona i just bought on a few weeks ago. Damn near the same thing. silver 47000mi. does yours have the bike rack on top? Also ask if they have the seat covers for it. Cause the Kona originally came with a bike and seat covers. I have the seat covers on now. All i have to say about that is that they are not the best looking but they are nice and thick so if you end up spilling water on the seat the seat cover is pretty much waterproof.
But get the noise fixed. and change your fluids in you card right away. AKA coolant, tranny, oil. but you knew that right?
