throttle body and mileage
Getting a ported stock TB to put in my car. Curious as to what effect, if any, it will have on gas mileage. I see posts where it provided nominal horepower gains and improves throttle response, but none that address mileage.
Thanks in advance! |

It's been fun.......

Can't say that I noticed any effect on gas mileage in fact maybe a little less just because of the increased throttle response my foot got heavier.

Well it like i always say. The more mods you have the less MPG you get becuse you will have your foot in it more. I know i do.LOL. I may get a litle better with my 65mm tb.

with an air intake and cat back exhaust, I noticed that the FC 65 mm TB actually gave me better gas milage.
It may have been bcs the sensors did not re-adjust to the stock tb, but I had to swap TB/s a few times and tracked milage, Stock TB gave me an average of 24 mpg 65 mm TB gave me 29 mpg And thats with the same style of driving, pushing the car to the limit basically. I also tested both TB/s on a tankfull of gas with economy driving, between 2000-3000 rpm max and the stock tb gave me 28 mpg while the 65 mm FC tb gave me 34 mpg. I do not think the 65 mm tb will give you worse mpg, it all depends on your setup and how u drive really.

LOL! Thanks...right now I'm at around 29/30 a gallon, but most driving is highway with speed set constant. Getting 75/80 miles per "hash"mark, about 300 miles per tank - defined as when the light comes on and I fill it up. Could take it further, but it's a good measurign point.
Current mods are minor on the 04 SE. Resonator removed and "clone CAI" installed, K&N performance filter, replaced stock snorkel with SVT one, removed air deflector, and replaced plug wires with FR 9mm's. |
