Good then maybe it was an optical illusion of some sort. If it fits and isn't loose then it's ok.

With what I thought was damaged- heck yeah. When I wrote that all I'd read was that you were unable to rotate the engine 360, and the crank sprocket looked egged to me. I'm assuming the broken timing pin was causing your rotation issues now that there's been some updates. Used engines are cheaper sometimes compared to replacing things that might cost more new and be more difficult to verify correct workings like cylinder heads. IE: I can get a used engine for $500 that I can hear run before it's removed, or I can purchase a new head from a dealer or head shop for $800. If it were a case of wanting more performance, then I could still use the vehicle while building the older engine for performance.

Many engines have cam sprockets keyed or locked to the cam in one position - was just asking the "stupid" question to confirm yours are adjustable as ours are - sprockets turn freely when attachment bolt loosened. Grumpy - trying to visualize why movement of sprocket while tightening crank bolt would be a problem. wouldn`t that be tightened B4 locking the cam bolts to finalize timing?
