ford gt on track at summit point

you shoulda been there. chief svt engineer brought out a brand new yellow gt to summit point and drove the snot out of it. he and i will be in the next issue of svtoa mag coming down the front straight. be proud focus owners-one of the only cars that could turn the same lap times was little squirt, the svtf race car. even suprised the guys from svt.

very impressive-ed was really nice guy-explained my hub breakage problem on the race car and he gave me name and number of engineer at svt who may be able to help me. porsche club was on the other track, and when ed took it over ther, everyone just stopped.

I bet they did...that car is rare enough that it deserves the special treatment.

all the porsche owners looked over and said wow I want that
Sounds like it was really cool wish I could have been there to see that the real question is did you ask for a ride in it?

well

all the instructors were offered a chance to drive it, but most of us passed. we have an expression about driving other peoples cars-we dont want to buy them. that is, if something bad happened we are responsible for damages.

well

for the granny parade lap sunday morning, they put me about a foot or two off the left rear bumper of the gt. gave the spectators a chance to take shots. i was VERY careful as ed and i rolled past the pits 3 times. the fun part was, we would go around the 180 just past the pits and both of us opened up our cars down the back straight. great exhaust noise from both. (all we have on the race car is a resonator to meet db limits on track).

yeah... being a foot or two away would have made me nervous...even if the car was sitting still. I'd be afraid i might just randomly fall and dent a panel.
