So how long before this thread gets locked? We should automatically lock threads like these ? They can start out nice but never end nice .

Just get a tune, who you get it from is up to you. I was very pleased with my tune I got. I gained so much low end TQ that it made daily driving a BLAST!! I imagine it would have been that way with ether tuner, all I know is WOW I should have done this a looong time ago. You won't regret it.

Service by Tom

Don't know the other guys so I can only tell you what my experience has been.
Tom offered to help getting my son's turbo Focus sorted out. What we bought was a piece of crap. Not the car but what had been done to it, or not done if that is your take. But that is on me. When someone tells me it is perfect I believe them for I am a man of my word. Car shows up with a blown clutch and oil all over the place. New clutch, fix the leak not sort this spinning deal in the front.
We had a short window of opportunity to get this done around the Christmas season. Picked a date set a time. It involved me being up for 40 hours, work drive to Tom's spend a day on the car, drive home nap, back to work.
If you consider yourself a wrench and ask me a car question you get my standard answer, I don't know!. Lot's of questions by Tom that day, lots of I don't know answers from me. Each issue was addressed and each problem was solved.
The toughest part of the day was the BS support from SCT. Picture Tom and his son both on their phones trying to get through for help while creating a tune on one computer with the new software, transferring to his son's box with the old software and back to the car. This was after they had informed SCT of the issue and SCT told them to call back after lunch. What SCT forgot to tell Tom was that they were closing for Christmas. They tried to get through for over 3 hours before the phone message changed to inform them. This was on the 22nd!
Well needles to say that a few times the frustration level got a little elevated.
At one point I offered just to write off the day due to the technical difficulties.
Tom would have none of it! Solved all the problems, I got a great tune and a fun ride home in my son's new car!
Voting and poles sometimes make for ill will. I did not read this thread, just happened top stumble across the poll. Don't know the others but if they go to the lengths Tom did, you are in good hands. Either way,in my book Tom is MONEY!

Just ordered mine from Tom. Haven't done anything yet, but he was really helpful with all my tuning questions. I'm looking forward to getting started.

Just loaded Toms tune in my focus. I have a mostly stock car, with a k&n drop in filter, the back of the large debris deflector cut out, and the iceman clone. Not much, but with his tune, I feel like I'm driving a sports car. Honestly, I've gotten less of a rush off a c5 Corvette (although I wasn't driving). The tires squeal when I punch it and when it shifts while my foots on the floor. It knocks you back I to your seat like never before.
I can't say anything of the other vendors, but you will not be disappointed with Toms tune. No Focus should be without Toms tune.

Just loaded Tom's tune on the wagon. All I can say is holy cow!!! What a change especially with the auto shifting. Gives a nice kick now instead of the granny shift lol. Cant wait to get more stuff done and get more updates!!! Great job Tom!!

definitely feels like a new car! shifts like a monster, and it even idles smoother than stock to boot mid to hi rpm pull nicely too.
That's why Tom has tuned both our cars!! A+++
thanks a bunch Tom,
steve & tiffany

I vote for Tom - Rally Car Tune

Tom has my vote!

To me, the actual tune is only part of it, the other part is the customer service that you get with it and I couldn't be more impressed with Tom, not to mention the free upgrades etc.

Here's the story....

Tom came up last week to tune our 2005 Ford Focus Rally car. The original plan was to do road tunning on Tuesday and then put it on a local dyno for final tuning on Wednesday. Unfortunately we ran into serious problems on Tuesday afternoon ( TOTALLY UNRELATED TO TOM) that caused us to have to ps ull the motor and rebuild the head.

Tom offered to stick around and help us with the rebuild and we took the time to add a few new goodies including a new intake that Tom had shipped up from NC. It was one of the ebay Cosworth knockoff ones that Tom had purchased, cleaned up and checked out.

As is the case with these types of projects it took us longer than anticipated.

We had to:
Pull the motor
Remove the head
Find a machine shop that could do a valve job (the same day....a special thank you R & L Engines!)
Reassemble the motor
Put the engine back in car
Start tuning again
Oh yea...and find a new dyno to use as we missed our scheduled slot. Thank you to Wangs Auto Spec for squeezing us in.

We didn't get everything put back together until Monday morning, we did road tuning on Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning and put it on the dyno on Tuesday afternoon.

Tom ended up spending a week with us, instead of the planned day and a half. He had to work in our freezing cold shop (we are in Maine), eat more pizza and fried food than anyone should have to (I am expecting a call from his wife) and he never complained once!

He is a awesome guy, has a great attitude, and is a fountain of knowledge on duratecs and engine building in general. It was a pleasure to get to know him over the last 7 days, our entire team really enjoyed working with him.

So...enough of the build up...what were the results...show me money!

We made 322HP and 297TQ at 14lb of boost. The car is a monster...scary fast... it has very short gearing due to a Quaife Dog Gear Set in the MTX-75
and will spin the tires in 4th gear at 70mph.

How short is the gearing? - top speed in 4th is 101 at 7000RPM

We could easily get 400hp out of it if we go to a front mount intercooler but we don't need it as 300 hp is about the most you can effectively put to the
ground in a 2WD car in gravel.

Thank you Tom, you're the best!

I went with toms tune. Tune was great. Good hp and tq upgrade. But the best part of his tune isn't shown in a dyno. For instance that launch bog is gone no delay on acceleration. Throttle response improvements around the board as well. I'm still getting big TB but now it's not so pressing. The tune fixed many of those launch issues with stock tune. More is noticed up top. Much smoother. There was a slight delay once you hit 120. Gone now with tune as I said much more smoother and consistent thru whole rpm range. I could go on. Last part is his customer service. Outstanding. I didn't know a whole lot about these things. I was really missing my old push-rod non computer controlled 302 but svt is my build up car now so I bugged him with alot of dumb questions and his patience and quick problem response was outstanding. And of course free tune updates as I build this car is amazing. Who does that anymore! Been great doing business with him. I highly recomend his services without question.
