Lexus Hybrid Commercial and other car commericals that dont make sense thread!

Posted via FF Mobile

This thread is dedicated to all those car commercials that dont make sense.

Lexus new hybrid commercial states nothing but false facts. Firs they say youtube didnt exist when it was created in 2005 the same year lexus introduced their first hybrid. Facebook was apperantly not around either, even tho it was started in 2004. Then they say that most people had landlines and gas was 1.75 a gallon. Yeaaaaa tons of people had cell phones in 2005 and gas was certainly not 1.75 a gallon. And the reason why most luxary automakers are building their first hybrids now is bc theyve been building diesels for decades and saw no need for hybrids in 2005. Apperantly the person who wrote the script is an idiot bc his facts are certainly not straight. Your nothing special lexus...sorry.

what car commericals have you seen that just dont make any sense and preach information that are false?

Are they maybe talking about Toyota hybrids? Since Lexus is owned by Toyota?

Possibly...but most people have no idea that is the case. The majority of the public especially those buying a Lexus probably have no idea that most of them are Toyota's underneath the shell. Lexus is a different company though, although they are owned by toyota they can't really take credit for the Toyota Prius. Same way Mercury can't come out and say they have the best selling rwd coupe ever. (mustang).

The whole thing still sickens me. I just wish all hybrids would disappear off the face of the Earth. It's never a good idea to mix two systems at once. Either go ALL electric or ALL gasoline. Or... ALL some other alternative fuel. But for the love of god just stick with ONE type. Hybrids just double the weight and complexity of the vehicle. You've got something boring, expensive, and hard as hell to maintain in the long run.

A hybrid's ONLY redeeming feature is fuel savings, which is something that can easily be achieved with better fuel injection technology (Ecoboost), switching to diesel (TDI baby!), or just outright adopting pure electric (Tesla). Granted none of these technologies are exactly the cheapest options right now... but the longer they're in production and the more widespread they become, they eventually will be!

Agreed 100%! A small petrol engine in a lightweight car is a far better choice for fuel saving than hybrid CRAP. Hybrids and their owners are useless.

Speaking of car commercials that dont make sense. What about the new KIA ones with the stupid stuffed animals? Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

Haha, true. Especially the stupid KIA hamster commercials. Are they saying that you have to be as dumb as a rodent running at the wheel to buy their car? Or that's about how much fun you get out of driving their car? Because with the way they're built, you'll be Fred Flinstones-ing your way everywhere like a hamster.

Yeah... I'm not quite getting the message there. I think I'd rather skip the whole hamster image altogether and just not buy the KIA. Not to mention the company name shares the same acroynm as "Killed In Action".

Haha, okay I'll stop... before this goes overboard.

Not sure I can agree with the sentiment about the Kia commercials..I mean you're talking about them, right ? Good or bad, they stick in our minds and you know it was for a Kia.

Now if you said "there's these stupid commercials with stuffed animals and hampsters in them but I don't remember what car brand they were for" then I'd say they weren't working as intended.

The stuffed animal one got me to download The Heavy's CD...I would have never been exposed to it otherwise..haha
