Proper Launch?

Does anyone know the key to getting a good launch with the Focus? I ran a 13.782 @ 104mph today but with a 2.24 60ft and lots of wheel hop. Does anyone have any ideas tips for getting better 60ft times (other than slicks and LSD of course).

Oh, it's a MTX-75 w/ Exedy stage 1 clutch.

that's a good 60' time for street tires. I doubt you will improve much off that.

Well, I ran again last night and got a 2.26 60ft with a 1/4 of 13.59 @ 104. Yeah, I'm thinking I'm going to need actual crinkle wall slicks to get any better 60ft.

DOT drag radials will do a good job , its all I ever ran , A LSD will help you some to

Dont worry so much about your 60 you have a lot of track left to make up for a lot of things , I would work on that

ive never understood this. i never had a problem landing 2.0-2.1 60ft times on my 18x7.5s when i had the corsa tires. now since then ive experimented with different brands and havent had such good results. when its time for tires next im going back to the corsas. say what you want, they are crappy brand tires, whatever. they hooked like radials, stuck great in the curves, and lasted longer than any other set that ive had to date. and i did alot of spinning on those tires.

basically if you want better launches you need better tires. wheel hop is bad tho. you should eliminate that before anything else. get poly mounts and if the hop persists try an ingals stiffy. if you still have issues you might want to look into lakewood traction bars. my wheel hop was taken care of with just the 3 poly motor mounts.

keep in mind that dipping into sub 2.0 second 60 ft times is getting into break #$%& territory. have extra axles, and tranny mount brackets handy.

I hold my ebrake, hold clutch in of course, keep it in first, hold my rpm's at 3,800, when third light lights I dump it....Last time at track few weeks back i busted a 2.1 60 footer, with a .022 or .023 reaction time on 17x7 rims with Sumitomo tires!!! So i disagree a little.....I can hit a 2.1 sixty ft on street tires! My car is a FREAK though! :)
