Wait I don't think you understand what I'm saying. What kind of paint are you using? You can automotive paint in a can but it's a lot more expensive.

I guess I dont know what you are talking about. I'm rattle canning it. taking my time and going to hope it comes out nice. It was a project good of sorts. Depending on how it holds up, I'll prolly repaint it later on.

So Paul, are you talking about a single paint application that has a clear coat built in that as the paint dries the clear coat rises to the surface and develops. That would be 2 stage paint. Otherwise there is a 2 stage painting process which involves color coat followed by clear coat each having 1- multiple coats.

Donald why you going all technical on me? Yes lol spray once, or a few coats, no need to spray clear. The other paint is just color then clear making it a 2 stage or what ever technical term you want to give it. Ether way sounds like you know what I'm talking about
