It's a logical conclusion that the belt did break if what the guy said is true. Did you verify what the guy said by looking your self?

^^The belt can still "feel" tight and be not tight enough. Or it could have just stripped some of the teeth off of the belt and it would still be tight but not turn cause there is nothing to grab on to.

See what happens when you don't race your car

Getting discounted prices just so he can take more out of your pocket sorry I just have a big dislike for shops. I used to work at one and I know people who own and run shops. I just can't bring myself to pay someone so much money on something that I could easily do myself. You'd be surprised what you can accomplish in a weekend with a set of hand tools and a manual to help guide you.

Just pray he doesn't call you and tell you that it dropped a valve

That is one of the greatest things I have gained by getting into this group of people. I don't know how much money I have saved myself or my family by either doing it myself of having someone I know do it. I just have trouble trusting anyone I have to pay to fix my car. And I will never be bringing my car back to the dealer. That's for damn sure.

Brought it to Planet Ford some time last week under my mother's request because the keyless entry doesn't work on the driver door. I figure it is just a loose wire or something, but I take it there anyway. Planet Ford wanted $125 to do a diagnostic to find the problem. No fixing. Just finding.

Pass.

I saved myself 1000's of dollars over the past years just by doing stuff myself. Jeremy I think it's time you start dabbling into the art of mechanic-ism. You never learn by not doing it, and you gotta start somewhere. Think how much money you spent on your bearing and it's still not working right (unless you fixed your tire leaning problem?). The only reason to take it somewhere is for them to fix it, not cause a new problem from them fixing the old one.
