Basically exactly what you described. It is erratic, fluctuating between 800-1000 rpm and feels like it wants to die when I stop. It does it consistently but it never quite dies, happens for a few seconds and then is fine...Seems if I leave it in gear and ride the clutch is doesn't act up, only out of gear.

So, did you clean the TB as Paul suggested yet? Sounds like that would help with the issue.

Yeah, I cleaned it about 3-4 weeks back and it helped significantly. This feels different. I've also noticed an uneven idle as it is warming up, a kind of fast surging. I will also be changing the fuel filter, as I have no idea when or if it has ever been changed. What I really need is a tune, but that's just not in my budget, yet.

That could help.

If it is surging at idle ... have you checked for any vacuum leaks. I will say one time I couldn't find my vacuum leak and it was doing that. And Paul put his finger over a spot and voila, my surging stopped. Lol. It was just a single tube that came off too ... thankfully.

I would also suggest a fuel injector cleaning. Some solution from the Auto Store will suffice.

Also not a bad idea. I wouldn't even know where to start looking for a vacuum leak, but that would make sense. My Z did the same thing and I know there were several vacuum leaks on that old beast, lol. Seafoam will be applied tomorrow. That should piss my neighbors off, hehehe

haha ... yeah.

Just don't do it too much or too often. Just once would do really. Too much can be damaging also. Since it is essentially eating away at the dirt and grime. But that doesn't mean it won't turn to your engine once it finds a good amount of dirt grime.

well, if you are not seafoaming at the fuel tank, then you should be fine.

There have been a few people who have just got the one that sprays through the intake.

Well, I figured if I'm gonna clean the fuel system I may as well clean the whole thing, from every angle. A capful through the fuel rail, and half the can in 1/2 tank of gas. I did that to my old spi and it really brought it back to life, what little life an spi has, anyhow.
