There is actually some stuff coming up this month.
10/13 CCM (in Montgomery)
10/21 Fall Team Bash
10/28 Import Face Off (in Baytown)

I am debating whether or not to go to CCM because they lot is apparently even smaller than the one they had in Grand Prairie. FTB and IFO I will be showing with WhatTheFitment.

The pipercross is one of the best intakes for the focus. It's like in the 3rd place vs. the stock SVT setup and the Volant setup.

Silly Daniel . It's just not as popular on here or I should say over here on this side of the pond.

So I'm sure y'all have noticed I been missing. My hard drive is going out on my computer. Patiently waiting on to try and win a SSD on Ebay. I also bought a little something to help quiet Ole' Yeller' down a tad. I miss the quiet speed with the SVT.

Piper is definitely a good one. Thought about getting one at one point buy not as easy find as others and I didn't have the funds at the time.

This, it's always been pricey everyone I've seen, not to mention hard to find/get

i thought the "ram effect" wasn't truly there. that is what i meant by they don't work well.
a certain individual *cough cough DONALD cough cough* always like to chime in with air intake speed info and so that was part of my backing.

i have a cool idea for an intake.
battery will go back to stock location, and custom intake piping will happen... once i get a flux welder. hahaha..
true cold airs need a low pressure area, correct?? yep. that is all i am saying

* cough, cough Me cough, cough* have only stated you cannot achieve true "ram air" because to ram the air through a scoop or some other kind of intake requires you to be traveling at a speed greater than the speed at which the engine is pulling air in on its own. On most cars the engine draws in air faster than the speed of which the car is even capable of going. Of course we all know that intake systems on cars are restrictive to a certain degree. So increase the flow rate of the intake through larger diameter pipe and better flowing filter with more surface area helps. The problem is most intakes then take the from inside the engine bay which is a 100+ degrees even on a cool day so the density is not there compared to a cold air(most oem are actually cai). That's why a cai will always make more hp than a sai given same pipe diameter and filter. Of course pipe diameter is another factor. Increasing to too large of a piper diameter will reduce air velocity which in turn lower possible performance of the intake. Especially on a stock throttle body like the regular zetec. Now going back to ram air intakes they do help.to increase the readily available amount of cooler air(pressurize) but they do not exceed the engines intake air speed. Another factor to consider in "ram air" the size of the collection area as well as how many bends in the pipe(restrictions and create turbulence). More intake area and few bends equals increased intake velocity.

So if you draw in cold air, can utilize a large area for scooping the air from the top, front or bottom of the car using a single or multiple scoops with as few bends as possible combined with a good flowing filter you should be happy. Oh, and as for pipe diameter, too large can hurt if it is close to the throttle body. If you can have a larger pipe diameter at the scoop(s) or filter and then reduce the pipe diameter as it gets closer to the throttle body you also help to increase velocity(ram air).

Like on my Honda a local shop would use openings in the front of the car to funnel air into a custom made filter box that sat in the engine compartment over the passenger fender. They used a high flow cone filter inside the box with an air horn to help smooth flow and reduce turbulence. This connected to a pipe that reduced a bit in diameter as it went to the throttle body. The box and pipe were also insulated so as to not transfer heat to the incoming air. It produced way more power than anything on the market and they had the dyno #'s to prove it. Only down side it was about $500+. Have been thinking about doing something similar in my car for a while. Just haven't looked at it close enough to work it all out design wise and material wise.

Might do one or two of those, let me know what's up when it gets time to get entry fees together.
