so today i finally changed oil, but blue b!tch wouldn't be herself if she wouldn't put up the fight,

so first think was the oil plug.... I'm wondering, who da hell was the previous owner and what was his problem? every bolt/nut/plug on this car is so damn tight it takes a bit of magic to remove it... and the darn plug was no different.

So in first 2 minutes I broke a socket on it, decided to WD-40 it, and made another attempt with Daniel's socket... socket held, plug gave up :D
The oil was really really burnt, and i took it from dealership just 1k miles ago, with em claiming they put new one in.....
After removing and inspecting plug, I could clearly see it was abused before, someone has already used bolt extractor on it, and the rubber part was completely gone.

A trip to autozone and $3 later I had a new plug, that I just put hand-tight back in.

Now the darn filter.... yes, you guessed it, took 45 minutes of wrestling to remove.... ffs.

Now the sparkplugs.... well I took em out easily, cause Paul put em back in with the correct force after we messed with timing belt, but.. have a look at the pic

Completely wrong size, even the upper part was so tall the spark plug wires connectors wouldn't go all the way down, thus not sealing the hole how it should with the rubber seal., but I'm just glad those didn't mess the engine.

Now the new spark plugs, Motorcrafts..... haha :D
I was reading about gaping spark plugs a little wider, but I just wanted to get em in at default gap, anyways as I was about to install them, something made me go curious what is the default gap... a trip to autozone and $1,5 later I was about to find out.

So the first plug was 0.54, second was 0.57, third 0.59, and fourth, the winner 0.61

brool story co. huh ? made me think "uhm, ok...." so I just gapped em all at 0.60 and it runs just fine, and I feel better that all 4 spark plugs provide equal combustion :)

Edit: I wont claim any performance boost from the spark plug and oil change, but the car seemed to be grateful about it

Ya I had, Avie :)

now i'm having sleepless night investigating those E3 spark plugs, which supposedly aren't bad at all, this funny tip they have in lab testing provides better combustion.... so ya.... now I'm thinking 'hmmm........."

The Motorcraft Plugs are perfectly fine and work well. Don't believe the E3 or Platinum plugs being any better than the Motorcrafts. The Cooper ones are one of the tops for our cars gapped at .60. The cooper ones don't last as long but they do provide good spark.

Motorcraft is what Ford put in the cars originally, so you are perfectly fine.
