Being that his job may be on the line if it were to be filed against him, you've got that going for you.

I recently had 2 of my Soldiers that obviously got into an incident. The passenger apparently slung the door of his buddy's new Genesis coupe into the door of a new Genesis sedan. He didn't say a word of it. To make it even better, story goes that they then noticed a much better parking space so the driver goes on and move to it. They proceed to come join the rest of us. A few minutes later a Sergeant Major from another unit comes strolling into our area. Oh snap. He was cool as could be, simply asked who drives the coupe, and asked him to come along. So one of my senior guys joins and the three of them go to the parking lot. To cut this story short, the Sergeant Major had watched the whole thing, giving specific details as to their step-by-step moves, and showing the marks on both cars. However, he did agree to take care of it between the two of them personally, without calling insurances or, worse for us, informing higher leadership. A dent in his car, sucks, but a simple fix for a few hundred.

Despite several good-will moves on the part of my senior guy and the driver, efforts that the Sergeant Major even applauded them for, he got insurance involved a few days later rather than simply getting the quote that he said he'd get. That was a bit annoying since he'd said opposite and was assured in several ways over the course of the week that it was to be taken care of if he simply got a quote for the guys.

BUT, with that said...I can't blame him. It's the only certain way. People these days; sadly, you can't always expect others to think the same or act the same or care the same about such possessions as you do. It's pitiful, the utter disregard that some have. Or the simple jacked-up morals to pull a hit-and-run, or claim to take care of things, and stand you up.

Oh, which reminds me of a better one. Will make this one much shorter haha. My step-dad gets side-swiped by an SUV heading the opposite direction on a 2-lane road. He had to swerve to miss the vehicle, and the other swerved at the last minute but still took off their mirrors. Step-dad whips around and proceeds to chase. Turns out it was a teenage girl on her phone texting. She whips into a driveway and runs for the door. He jumps out of his truck at the curb. She proceeds to yell at him, as she reaches the door, "MISTER! WHY DID YOU HIT ME?!"

Umm...hello? Yeah...I hit YOU and yet proceeded to chase you down to your home? Turns out she rushed to her Aunt's house nearby. The Aunt of course came out and after being told the story, she had no doubt my step-dad spoke the truth. Because the girl had 2 accidents against her already involving her phone. Anyway, the parents finally arrived, as well as the cops. Cop tells them that it's word against word, that he could file a report, but it'd basically be a mess and no guarantees of getting anything done anytime soon. Parents agreed to work out a deal to pay for the damages. After quotes they agreed to cover it in payments. Was around $400 or so. My parents got 2-3 payments, about half the money, before the people quit paying/responding/etc.

Same step-dad was in an accident on his motorcycle recently. Sitting at a light, a woman swerved last minute but still just swiped a saddlebag enough to force him to drop the bike. He's in shock, trying to pick the bike up and get out of a busy road. She jumps out, asks if he's alright, he says yes, she jumps back in and drives off.

W-T-F.

I hate people. Not a very good outlook on the general population of the world, for such reasons.

Geez...sorry that turned out so long lol Just got me on a rant with topic. I seriously hope it does work out for you though, and for what it's worth, and I'm sure you're thinking it already, it sounds like from what you've said, with multiple calls, his job on the line, etc, that he seems sincere.

So anyway...on a serious note!

Anyone that may be tempted by brand new Roush skirts, $125, I'll be in the Austin area. Just PM me beforehand and I'll bring them along. Give me money to do Christmas shopping and I'll give you a deal! Hahaha :D
