Steeda Short Throw Shifter Install

I'm in the process of installing the steeda short throw shifter. All was going well until I almost finished. I ensured that the tabs on the Z-bar bushings were properly seated in the grooves on the shifter base. Then screwed the shifter plate back on. I can't move the stick sideways at all. I can't move the z bar sides to side by hand either. I need to be somewhere in 2 hours!

2005 ZX3, so 2002.5-2007 steeda STS.

EDIT: figured it out, popped the clutch in and moved the for aft shift cable back and forth and that seemed to unlock the zbar.
