Yup you can. Just bypass the electronic clutch starter interlock switch and you're good to go

yes, i have seen a few like that, but like I said, each place I check says they cannot do it on the focus. something to do with the pcm. after seeing this today, i checked another place and they said the same thing.

has anyone here done it?

It can be done and there is absolutely no ill effects on the pcm. And actually the focus is a very easy vehicle for remote start installation. You need to have a remote start product, DEI (Viper, Python, and Clifford) are among the best out there, and you would aslo require a relay to bypass the clutch switch, and an ignition bypass for the PATS system. Make sure you get a remote start system that is compatible for both automatic and standard transmissions. In standard transmission mode there is a specific shutdow sequence that must be followed. This tells the remote start that the vehicle was shut down properly and left in nuetral. If the sequence is not followed, the remote start will not start the vehicle until it has been successfully shutdown.
In most cases, dealerships are worthless for advice when it comes to aftermarket electronic equipment, especially remote starts.
In regards to the two shops you went to, if they did not sell equipment that was compatible for standard transmissions, that is why they denied you. In most states, if not all, it is illegal to install a remotestart on a standard transmission vehicle unless it was designed for that purpose. Installing a remote start on a manual trans that is not compatible with a manual transmission will result in the vehicle driving away, if the vehicle was left in gear.
Also make sure you go to a reputable shop for the installation. Remotestarts can be very complex and tap into the most vital vehicle electrical circuits. Inproper or poor installation of a remotestart can result in a long and expensive nightmare while owning the vehicle.
