For Sale: Used SVTF Torsen T2 LSD *SOLD*

Item Description - Used SVTF Torsen LSD. I had it professionally installed by English Racing (englishracing.net). Had it in the car for about 6,000 miles. Had weird noises in drivetrain/suspension and suspected it was the LSD. Had a new LSD installed and sent this one off to Torsen for inspection. This is what Tom Sipples, the Torsen Quality Assurance rep, had to say in his official inspection report:

"Unit was disassembled and found to be in an acceptable condition for a unit run in a front wheel drive vehicle. Trace evidence of a hardened red loctite substance was found inside the unit. Side gear and planet gears showed no evidence of tooth cracks or breaks. Ring gear bolt holes all had varying amounts of a red loctite substance on the thread and mating cap areas."

As you can see in the pic, the unit was cleaned and rebuilt, ready to install. All that was "wrong" with it was red loctite, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Shipping to anywhere in the US (I shipped it to NY for inspection) is about $30.

I was pointed to a nice little trans shop called Pro Trans here in San Antone. They did it at the extremely low price of $325 and did a good install, no hang-ups. For reference, I got charged $760 in Vancouver, WA...

What kind of noises were yu hearing, and did you replace it with the same brand and the noise was gone. The red loctite sounds like the thread lock-tight used on the ring gear, that shouldn't have caused any kind of noise issues. Again what and when did it make noise

yeah I was charged $300 for the install with just bench work. I think it was another $400 or so if the tranny needed to be removed from the car.

Hahahah, it was $325 IN the car. Dropped it off, came back 10 days later from vacation, they said 325, I said great.

If you look in my sig you can see I still have a Torsen .

I developed a clunking noise that seemed to be connected to the drivetrain. Yes, the clunking went away, but it had to have been something else loose. Torsen *re-assembled* this unit and certified it in great condition. I can email you the official inspection PDF file.
