Anybody else having an impossible time getting the cable out of the dsi lever? I got it off the post but can not, for the life of me, get it out from there, meaning I can't remove the imrc?

Edit: also just noticed I broke the dsi clip. Fml.

Whatever you do, don't force it, I did and broke the clip! This required a new IMRC module. From the position the lever is in when your engine is shut off, simply rotate the lever counter-clockwise and slide the clip off the post on the lever, towards the firewall. I hope this helps!!!

I just kicked myself in the nuts. Installed brand new IMRC along with a lot of other crap on my SVTabout 2 weeks worth of work. Started it up and went for a drive today...CEL...WTF OVER!!!!! 3 different codes popped up on the Predator, 2 for the IMRC and 1 for the altenator. CRAP I just changed this thing out...yet I forgot to plug the wiring harness back in to the IMRC

You almost need two ppl to remove the cable as the tension makes it impossible to turn counter-clockwise and hold it at the same time. Get some help, have them hold the flashlight with one had and rotate with the other. This way you can finagle the cable out without breaking it.

that's what i should have done. i still couldnt get the cable out of the end of the dsi, like an inch or two from the spring. it was stuck in the little groove there. so i put my car back together and will come back to it this weekend. looks like im gonna need a lil screw too.

I am wondering whether it is possible to take out the electric board without removing the DSI clip, cable (air box, battery tray etc) ?

I am thinking about doing the repair without removing the IMRC box completely.

1. I think I can access the IMRC box from below with the car jack up in my garage
2. unscrew the IMRC box (the box will be dangling and hold with a wire like the brake caliper)
3. open the IMRC lid (remove 5 screws)
4. unsolder the circuit board out (while the box is dangling)
5. Take the circuit board out, clean contact on the bench
6. after the contact is clean, solder the board back
7. Install RTV seal,
8. Install screw.

My concern is:
* whether the gears and spring in the IMRC box are held down firmly by internal screws.
* If so, I don't have to worry about finding all the pop out gears on the floor and put them back like a puzzle.
* If they are not held down by hardware, then it is safer to have the whole box removed and work on.

For those who did this and have the box pop opened, Please advice.
Thank a lot !!
Tat
