Even with the huge numbers of Japanese cars (I also own one) out here on the West Coast, since I bought the Focus, I have noticed how many Focuses (Foci?) there are out here as well. Even with the early problems Ford must have done well with these cars. I like a hatchback for the second car and by luck came up with my like new '05 ZX3 SE "Adrenalin" with 14K kms. It may not have the snob appeal of the Mazda 3, but after driving both, I actually liked the Focus better, particularly the instrument panel. This thing also handles really well. And from what I've seen, I think the interior (seats/upholstery) will stand up better as well. FYI......I just did an oil change to get my oil in it, and the Mazda dealer where I bought it, had of course used a Mazda (P/N LF1014 302) oil filter, which "looks" like a better filter than the Motorcraft and it might be a good choice. I haven't priced it yet. This forum also looks pretty familiar being a "vBulletin", and after cruising through it, a lot of the same "issues" crop up as on the Maxima.org forum.
