Ontario insurance

Hi guys, I just picked up my 2012 Focus figuring on around $1500 a year insurance or so, and when I finally got the statement for my plan I felt like someone kicked me in the crotch. $3600. I've been getting other quotes, but so far the best I've come up with is about $3000.

I've had my licence for 15 years, only one accident in which I was the victim, and it ws over 10 years ago anyway, and except for a few years I was in Japan, I have always been insured.

Does this make any sense to anybody, and can anyone recommend a good insurance broker / company where I might have better luck? At this point even $2000 a year would be nice. Thanks.

Feel free to private message me here too if this kind of sensitive info shouldn't be posted publicly.

i pay $2700/year for my 04 ZX5 (they know its modified and have an appraisal listing all mods and valued at $9000) and I'm 21 w/ 2 not at fault accidents (both rear ends 1 at 17 other last august), no tickets. licensed for 5 years.

$3600 seems pretty high for someone thats been driving for 15 years with a clean record. I'm with Lombard and so far they have been very good with me when i needed them. i know its a new car but i would have figured around 2000/year.

I used that site to find the best deal for myself. Worked great!

Thanks for the replies. I've been calling around and checking online and there's definitely something wrong with my current policy. The worst quote I found was still better than mine by about 400 a year. The best one I found was 1400 a year better than mine! :)

Needless to say I'll be switching.

I'm with Co-operators, licensed for 20 years. No tickets, two claims of robbery over ten years ago where my car was found but needed minor repairs. No traffic violations. I pay 100$ per month that includes a 15% discount because of all the services I have through them. My deductible is high though, I think it's at 1000$.

Do you know what the break points are for years driving / premiums? Providing I have no claims will my policy get cheaper every year, every 3 years, 5?

I think there are many factors for insurance rates getting cheaper...insurance provider and their policies, age, family/single etc. One thing is certain though, I would expect an no-claim person to be paying less over time and definitely after 5 years!
