SCT X3 (3000) Tune Question

I just purchased the SCT model 3000 programmer and it's loaded with 87/91/93 octane tunes. Currently I'm using the 87 tune, since that's what I've been using in my stock '03 ZX5 (2.3L) since I got the car.

I want to try out the higher octane fuels now but have a few questions.

I have about 1/4 tank of 87 left in the car now. Should I wait for that to get lower before I fill it up with something higher?
Finally, when I decide to reprogram the car with a higher-octane tune, do I have to return it to Stock first and then re-tune?

Best to change tunes when you are closer to "E"

The 3000 doesnt come with tunes on it so this was used ? No you can just load the next tune in for what ever fuel your going to , no need to go back to stock

I was a little confused when I got to the pump today. The only choices for octane were 87, 89 or 92. And my SCT was loaded with 87, 91 and 93.

Not sure what to do here. I guess I'll give the shop a call that sold me this and see what they recommend.

You have cookie cutter base tunes for a all stock engine , they are not going to do much for you , just add the closest tune to the fuel you can get and keep to the lower meaning if your going to run the 87 tune run 87/89 fuel , rung 92 fuel for the 91 tune

Why didnt you get a flasher from me where you get a full custom tune , FREE tune updates and datalogging to fine tune your tune

Because I'm fairly new to this site AND tuning. So you're saying I should use the 91 tune with 92 octane fuel?

Also, this model says it supports datalogging with the LiveLink software (which I downloaded) I'm not sure what you would charge for your suggestions.
