Well, right off the bat I have to say I'm dissapointed in this engine's output. The current Ford and Mazda 2.0L put out 145hp & 148hp respectively. Ford is really marketing this engines new technology and for what, a 10 hp gain??!! If they really wanted to make a statement, they'd have provided 170ish HP. At least that would have been an accomplishment in that small of an engine. Although not that big of an accomplishment considering SVT did that with a low tech engine 8 yrs ago. Anyway, maybe the increased torque will make it feel more powerful.

Either way I'm chomping at the bit for the next SVT!

And no wimping mushy shifting transmission like the 2010 Fusion I am currently driving. I love the feel of the Fusion and the 4 banger is "ok" but the transmission is REALLY soggy and if the Focus shifts like this, its probably a forgone conclusion.

So Ford...PLEASE no soggy shifting. I am not sure if its the DBW or the trans itself.

ANd for the no power for the Focus out of a 2.0. They are squeezing close to 170 by reports AND getting 40 MPG (by reports) on the highway out of it. Thats where the change is. Efficiency.

Since it is a "global" platform now, Ford wants to make sure they don't piss-off the entire global market. They've already done a damned-fine job of pissing us off in NA lately, with their underachieving Focus platform.

A change is long over due, and they have to get this one right, out of the starting blocks. Sure, some teething issues will arise in the first or second iteration, but expectations are high for this vehicle in NA. Too high?

way too high, so far every focus delivered in the US has underperformed compared to expectations, while other manufacturers are going turbo, and AWD and aftermarket (performance) suspension and other add-ons, the ford focus was given wheels, and fancy spoilers...
