If they do release a $30k Focus, I would almost guarantee Eco-Boost, and every possible option, think Fully Loaded GTI...

Here is the email Ford sent to us Ford employees:

The public got its first peek at this future product at the
North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.
We thought you might like a glimpse as well, so we have
posted some late-breaking images to eSourceBook. Following the One Ford plan, the next generation
Focus is being designed to again raise the
standard … and lead its segment.
And “lead” it will. When you go to
eSourceBook, you will see that there
is an energy to this all-new design that
can’t be denied. Every line of its kinetic
design evokes motion and agility.
Be assured, the next generation Focus will not only
look exciting, it is exciting. This all-new car is being
engineered to deliver the kind of driving dynamics,
power and responsible fuel economy that appeals
to the true driving spirit. And, from its well-crafted
cabin, drivers will both enjoy the road as well as all
of the cutting-edge technologies that customers have
come to expect from Ford. Remember, we define “kinetic” as,
“It looks like it’s moving, even when it’s standing still.”
The next generation Focus will launch in the spring
of 2011 as a 2012 model and will be introduced in a
number of its global markets simultaneously. Focus
was unveiled at the North American International
Auto Show in Detroit to rave reviews. When you
go to eSourceBook, we think you will see why.

Focus Will Feature:

Dynamic Design
This car has a toned and athletic stance, with a kinetic
design (“It looks like it’s moving, even when it’s standing
still.”) and promises an exciting driving experience.
Highlights include:
• 4-door and 5-door models available in four trim levels
• Distinctive headlamps and designed-into-the-body
shark-fin taillamps
• Wider stance and increased track width
• The design commands attention from every perspective

Plug Yourself In
The Focus interior wraps around its occupants
almost like a second skin. The driver’s cockpit
styling puts instruments close at hand for a feeling
of complete control. Available highlights include:
• Intelligent Access with Push Button Start
• Heated front seats
• Dual-zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control

Addictive
Driving Experience
Tuned for agility, precision and connected-to-the-road feel,
the driving experience in the 2012 Focus flatters the novice
and rewards the enthusiast. Highlights include:
• 2.0L Ti-VCT I-4 engine
• Available PowerShift 6-speed automatic transmission
• Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS)
• Combination of great fuel economy and performance
• Designed to meet or beat the toughest emissions standards
around the world
• Dynamic Cornering Control for more responsive handling
• Uses high-strength boron steel for outstanding stiffness, strength
and light weight

Techno Talented
Intuitive, take-control technology
allows the customer to truly take
control and make things happen.
Available highlights include:
• SYNC®
with Traffic,
Directions
and Information
• Dual, 4.2-inch, full-color, interactive
vehicle information displays with an
optional 8-inch, center-stack touch screen
• Rearview Camera
• Voice-activated Navigation System

The Competition:
The new Focus will compete globally, but in the U.S. the competitors will be other
C-segment cars. Some of the competition in this segment includes:
• Chevrolet Cruze
• Honda Civic
• Kia Forte
• Toyota Corolla
• VW Jetta

"One Ford”
Continuing the momentum of the “One Ford” strategy, the 2012 Focus was previewed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. And like every Ford launch vehicle, the all-new Focus is designed to set new standards for its segment. For the 2012 Focus, the competitive segment is, literally, the world. This next generation Focus redefines the idea of a “global platform” for Ford, and for the customer.

Born in Europe, Sold Worldwide
The global design team diligently worked in the Ford of Europe studios to create an all-new C-car platform that would not only satisfy, but redefine and lead in each and every global market. The result is a Focus that will be sold in the Americas, Asia and throughout Europe — all from the same platform and predominantly the same functionality and styling, no matter the continent.

I certainly hope that Ford will keep the base price in line with its intended competition above, except for the Jetta. The Jetta has become bloated in price of late.

Here's hoping for the best...

What I'm seeing on the new Ford, will certainly put it on par with other vehicles in the 25 to 30K range, beyond its intended competition.

Perhaps we could get "Ford Employee Pricing?"

Posted via FF Mobile Yea im thinking that a normally aspirated focus fully loaded with every option will be about 25k. That is comparable to a golf, jetta, mazda 3. If it gets up to 30k which I dont think itll go north ofthat itll either be a sport model or some kinda focus with ecoboost, fully loaded. Also think about a volvo c30 and how much those can be. Focus will be cheaper bc its built here in the US but with all these options its not surprising if a focus goes north of 25k.

So the launch date is later then expected, there was mention of January 2011 as the month the dealerships would have units delivered.
Probably won't see them in showrooms until March 2011. Same timeline as how the MY2010 North American Fusion was launched.

Interesting that the North American press release details are very limited in comparison to the Ford Europe press release details, as far as listed features, technology and powertrain details.

I hate this, they should present the car and put all INFO on it's new web page.
Transmission,price,engiens,trims...Why did they even show the car when we don't know almost anything about it...

For this exact reason. It's got EVERYONE talking. From Automotive Magazines/Journalists, to CNN to loyal enthusiasts, and non-Ford fans. EVERYONE! We may hate it, but Ford is absolutely loving it. They've created a HUGE buzz.

because people could hold off on the current model and sales would go down.

I think we will get much more detail from Ford at the Geneva Auto Show coming up in March, which is the venue for the Focus debut for Europe.

There are different answers to the same question. Alan Mulally and Derrick Kuzak say it will go on sale at the end of this year. Some say early next year and some say end of this year into early next year. What gives? I would say that it will at least go into production in the 4th quarter of this year.

Interestingly, Ford said that the 2011 U.S. Fiesta would debut in early 2010. Early to me would be between January and March. Now Ford says summer of 2010 (sometime in June). Summer of 2010 does not equal "early" 2010. Must be differences in interpretation I guess.

We shall see.
