(Porsche 944, FSVT, RX8, Mazda3 2.3 5-spd) It's increasingly difficult to find cars aren't trying to be hushed, remote, cushy limo impersonators. Look to the enormous yawn that is the current Si, or better yet, drive it back to back with an older model and be reminded what is really important in a car that's supposed to tickle your fun center.
Yeah.... I'm not bitter.
Have you driven the current C1 MKII Euro Focus?

Will you test drive this new MKIII 2012 Focus when it is available in N.A.?

As far as I know it will be offered with a EDIT5spd manual transmission, and most likely the new 1.6L Turbo EcoBoost.
And high chance within 1 year it debuts, an ST variant with the 2.0L Turbo EcoBoost will grace the North American roads.

And I betcha the hatch will be tuned a tad sportier in the dynamics then the sedan, and if not at least offer a sport tuned suspension.

I hope for your sake before you base your final opinion on this new Focus and how it performs by at least test driving it before claiming it to be a dull driving car.

The Focus or at the least the current global Focus is known around the world as offering one of the best driving experiences available. You think Ford is dumb enough to turn it into a comfy couch experience.

I don't think so.

Don;t let that high end euro appearance make you think these are soft cushy drivers, if you get a chance go throw the new Mondeo around and come back and tell me its a dull driver.

EDIT-manual tranny info for N.A. Just heard Jim Hughes Ford Focus Chief Engineer confirm 5 speed manual for N.A. 2012 Focus

Posted via FF Mobile Everyone is using duel clutch autos now bc they are better. Just bc i get one doesnt mean im any less of a driving enthusiast or amature racer. You do realize that every F1 car on the circut uses this tech. Also pretty much every ferrari coming out is using it as well. Idk maybe just not your thing but vws dsg is great and theres plenty of people who never venture out of manual mode to automatic. Its the best of both worlds and im glad they are offering this. They had that terrible 4spd before and no manual shifting options on it. They went from a non manual shift four speed to a six speed dry clutch automanual....Huge leap forward. There will def be a tune coming out for this trans to make the shifts even quicker and who knows what else. Its going to be awesome.

I think he means the Focus front bumper/fascia are similar to the Civic Si and Cobalt SS.

Me personally, for a minute there I thought the front end looked like an Audi. Not that it's a bad thing,it just means the styling is more European in flavor.

Exactly, go drive a DSG GTI, and tell me it isn't fast, its faster than a manual.

Also, WRC cars run them...

Mondeo isn't SOLD HERE in the U.S.

The closest thing we had to that was the Ford Contour/Mercury Mystique-and we all know what happened there!

The next best thing here sedan wise is the Fusion.

The next Fusion will be a Mondeo, they are going global in 2012-13...

fast does not always equal fun, ya know. dsg is better than a normal slushbox, but i much prefer three pedals.

That's still quite a ways off...

And we all know what happens when Ford kills a popular nameplate(especially one that just took the COTY award).

Agreed, but if you have a lengthy commute, having the auto option is nice, and get on a twisty road, and down shift under braking with a dual clutch gearbox, and listen to the engine pop, its fun...

The Mondeo is far superior to the Fusion, that's not even up for question...
