The Focus RS isn't a completely different car than the Mustang. Okay, okay, sure. They're on entirely different platforms, but they're both two-door sports cars. Practically speaking, the only difference is that the Focus RS has a hatch and the Mustang doesn't. And this is America, remember...the place where people don't give a flying about hatches. The only people who would buy a 300HP Focus RS are the few people on here who actually make enough money to do so and a couple of guys watching Top Gear.

I wouldn't even buy a Focus RS. 300HP in a god-damn FWD car? Uh, no thanks. If I had about 30 grand in my pocket I'd go buy something that wouldn't torque-steer me into a ditch.

In the end I think that we'll see a Focus performance version in America and in Europe that is pretty much dead-on with the outgoing Focus ST in Europe in terms of performance.

Posted via FF Mobile um an ones a big mustang thats rwd and has a big engine and people who buy them could care less about gas mileage and the rs is a fwd car that is much smaller and gets good gas mileage. They have two doors and are sporty...pretty much thats the only similarities. Its not a proper comparision. And to be honest i prob wouldnt get an rs either, if i had the money id get mustang or some other rwd or awd car. I love the focus and i think what they have done with the rs is awesome but rs is alittle much, not for my taste id totally own one but if i have to choose with on car prob wouldnt get it. What i really wanna see more and ive beem saying for a while is a really good mid level performance car...an svt or an st whatever they feel like calling it. Give me a focus with a slight drop, tighter suspension, powershift with paddle shifters and an ecoboost turbo in a focus with 2 doors and ill be sold.

The new engine does seem nice, but I'd like more options- especially the diesels. They just don't seem to want us to have low fuel cost. Freaking electric
1: Ford usa is not devoted to diesels they do hybrids and electrics so should be no dissapointment bc its not a surprise and 2: theres a getrag 6spd manual dude....seriously im really surprised by ur lack of reaserch why.

Amd where on earth is there a list of european options that dwarfs those the US is getting...oh wait, practically nothing has been official announced so no list exists. Focus Overly Irrational Fanatics FTW today.

Yes, because the Subaru STI and Mazdaspeed 3 have been a total bust cars and does not attract buyers in the states...

Care to explain why you believe this? Here's a link that you might want to see:

If you're going to say that people just want SUVs these days you're dead wrong. Crossovers outsell them 2 to 1 now. Times change, and I think more and more people are going to want to have smaller cars with more room....enter the hatchback.

WOW! That is big. My car (current euro MkII) is big and when i go to my aunt's or grandmother it's really hard to rotate the car in their driveway.

As for the most of the look just the back end I think needs a little bit more.
Huh? I jumped ship and got the 3-door I wanted.

I wouldn't even call it "jump ship", because quite honestly I still love the 2000-2004 generation Focus. To date I still think the SVTF is the sexiest hatchback EVER to hit US soil. If they still made 'em (ZX3) today and improved some of the things: like standard side airbags, standard rear disc brakes, faster engines (turbo diesel?), optional (bolded so the manual dudes don't get angry) dual clutch tranny SVTF, etc. I would've EASILY bought another Focus without any hesitation at all.

The reason people bitch and moan is because they're ZX3 lovers like me. they feel a strong passion towards the funky original car. To date Ford STILL doesn't offer anything that comes close to the fun factor and beauty of the original, or at least in such an affordable "bang for your buck" package. Almost every design they carry today looks too bland or mature in comparison. The Fiesta will definitely change that... but it falls short by not being available in a 3-door trim (at least not yet).

With all due respect, I keep hearing this over and over on these forums. But personally I think part of the problem is that consumers aren't talking with their wallets. When I needed a new car after my Focus and Ford didn't offer anything good at the time, I got myself something else.

Sorry, I don't have time to wait around and keep wishing for a better Focus to come along. They either have it... or they don't. The way to punish companies for making stupid decisions is by not buying from them when they don't meet your needs. And when they do, reward 'em! I don't see how it can be so complicated.

As much as I'd like to take brand loyalty seriously, I feel like some of my favorite car manufacturers are run by impulsive/ADD leaders who love making random and stupid decisions from time to time. They're great at what they do (and that is to make money), but the consistency of their products isn't there to really make me feel comfortable about having a long term investment in any of 'em.

Mostly just opinion. I personally like the cleaner and "sportier" look of 2 doors. Insurance companies also generally charge more for 2/3 doors vs 4/5 doors, because it looks "sportier". Technically they also weigh slightly less and have fewer blind spots. If you don't haul passengers often, it just makes for a more personalized and fun car. The second door is just there for a girlfriend. And the third door is there for fun things with said girlfriend... ;-D

mmmosse u couldnt have said it any better.

mmmosse u couldnt have said it any better.

totally agree infinty%!!!!!!!!

people who are old enuff to remember back to how the term HOT HATCH use to be something. 323gtx, honda civic si, ford escort gt there are more but cant think of. back in the mid 80s early 90s. overseas they still get HOT HATCHES why not us.

true they may come out with a 2dr hatch later but what does that say for the brand when its not ready to debut it with the other models. we know fords track record. they have slowly been going down hill with the U.S. version focus. waiting another 2 yrs maybe for something that might not be all that? alot of people may just end up moving on.

2dr hatch lovers end up moving on to 4dr hatch because theres no nice 3dr cars out performance wise. thats why we are forced to buy ms3 and sti. the only hot hatch still out is the gti and look at thier following. even some of us would take on a gti old or new. that cant be said for the focus.
