MARCH RIDE OF THE MONTH(2012)
Member name: SVT3658 Location: Orange Park, Florida Model: SVT (3 door) Color: CD Silver ![]() Why he loves his Focus: "My SVT was not my first car, but it is the first car I put a considerable amount of work and money into. I have been through ups and downs with the car, but overall it has been a very fun experience. The car has been through many looks/stages, and has been on the chopping block more than once. But every time I tell myself "I'm going to fix whatever is wrong and sell it" I end up fixing it then driving it, and it all starts over again. Driving it again after not driving it for weeks makes me realize how fun of a car it is, and I get back into modding it and set out to find new parts that are better than the ones I took of of it and sold. Probably the best part of owning the car is all the people I have met. I know some awesome people today through the car that I never would have met otherwise. The get togethers are always fun, and the big shows are a blast." His future plans: "I am graduating in April with my Mechanical Engineering degree. Hopefully that leads me to a solid career, and I will have more money to spend on the car. I will likely be moving to Detroit, Michigan as I want a job in the automotive field of engineering. The current plan is to just keep up with maintenance. The car has 221k miles on it as of today, so I have already spent a good deal of time and money on maintenance...and the end is nowhere near I'm sure. It's a constant battle, but I enjoy working on the car. Immediate maintenance plans are to find and fix the vacuum leak it has developed recently, replace the power steering pump (again) because it's making some noise, and to either pull apart and fix or buy a replacement IMRC box. After those, the car will be back in tip-top shape. Immediate modification plans are to get my Sportmax wheels powdercoated and one the car, then set the ride height to exactly where I want it, roll the fenders appropriately, and get an alignment. Other than that, plans are pretty much non-existent, if I see something I would like to have on the car and it's a good deal, I'll jump on it. That's not really likely to happen any time soon though. A more long-term plan is to get a new hood off of a lower-mileage silver Focus because mine has seen better days (has a fair amount of rock chips from 221k miles, most of them highway miles) and get the roof touched up. There are also a few kinks in the body that need some PDR love to get the little dings and dents from parking lots, flying objects, people leaning on my car and slightly denting a panel, etc. A long-term, money-willing plan is a full rebuild of the engine and a refresh of the trans. Built bottom end, ported and polished head, Top Speed turbo kit, etc. Also, I would love a set (or more) of custom-ordered wheels. First on the list would be a set of custom width and offset TeamDynamics ProRace 1.3 wheels, and from there who knows what...." MAY RIDE OF THE MONTH(2012)
Member name: WISCOZX3 Location: Watertown, Wisconsin Color: CD Silver Model: ZX3 ![]() Why he loves his Focus: "It's pretty easy to understand why I love my Focus. It's reliable, cheap, easy to maintain, handles like a dream and gets great gas mileage all while looking good doing it. Aftermarket parts are abundant and fairly easy to come by for the most part, which is also a huge plus for me." His future plans: "As for future plans, I currently have an SVT header/flex, and a Dominant Engineering ORP waiting to go on. Once that stuff is installed, I plan on getting it tuned (probably by Turbo Tom.) Then I'll be done performance-wise unless I come up on a a great deal on something at the right time. After that, it will just be appearance mods like SVT bumpers and side skirts, tint, etc. I may end up doing a complete suspension overhaul at some point but who knows. I would like to switch to either H&R race springs or a set of coilovers down the road." AUGUST RIDE OF THE MONTH(2012)
Member name: CDSILVER02 Location: Topeka, Kansas Color: CD Silver Model: SVT (3 door) ![]() Why he loves his Focus: "There are too many reasons why I love my focus. SVT, Supercharged, great suspension, rare, clean... Too many hours spent cleaning, fixing, swapping, bleeding. I accidently stabbed myself in the face once becuase I was working on the car. Got the scar and never stopped working. It is like the car was my first child. I know that might sound bad to some, but it was my first major purchase as an adult, and I love every part of this car. I someday look forward to teaching my boys how to drive a manual." His future plans: "I have plans to upgrade the wheels to something premuim and one off, ICE it needs some, some more suspension goodies. Needs to be lower in the back with corner weights set. I knew one day I would get a Focus. I have had it now for more than 9 years and I wouldn't want anything else. Once I started modding it a few years ago, I really started to enjoy it even more. I have always had a smile on my face when I drive it, but now I enjoy looking at all my hard work that has went into it. Everything that has been done to the car has been done by me and I am proud of that. Had it not been for these forums, my car would not look anything like it does now. I appreciate and respect the people on the forums who have taught me so much!" OCTOBER RIDE OF THE MONTH(2012)
Member name: SVVIFTSVT Location: Houston, Texas Color: Pitch Black Model: SVT (5 door) ![]() Why he loves his Focus: "Well, to start it off, my sister first had a 01 sedan. I always loved how fun of a car it was. I had totaled my previous car ('94 Camry). The throttle cable got stuck, ending up with a thrown rod and a hole punched in the block. So I then went car shopping. The first day I went out, I laid my eyes on this car. I was dead set on getting it without even stepping foot into it. I took it for a test drive and did not leave until the papers were signed. The Kraken (as I call it) is the most fun car I have ever been in. Its quick, nimble, agile, just all around, the perfect car. I have spent the last 4 years doing anything and everything I can to make it unique, like myself. It's a head-turner and I love surprising people who think "Oh, it's just a focus." The Kraken and I have had some fun times and still surprises me to this day with things. There is nothing like hitting the twisties with a group of more expensive/luxurious cars and them telling you to take the lead because they can't keep up. There really isn't anything like it in my eyes." His future plans: "Well, to start off, I have some EDM tails that I am working on getting the remainder bits and pieces to get them installed. I would love a Reiger Front bumper and RS Collections rear. In the next coming years, my girlfriend and I will be getting our first house. So with that, my modding may slow down in the near future. But I would love to boost the Kraken. I also plan on getting more Foci in my fleet. A ZX3 2.3l Duratec for a Daily and I want a Wagon to mod as well. I have recently done a rear seat delete and plan on doing something crazy with the rear doors (ie weld them and shave the handles). People may say that I should have just gone with the ZX3 SVT if that was my plan, but i like having the rear windows, just one more thing to make me different."
