MAY RIDE OF THE MONTH(2006)

Member name: SVT_BMXER
Location: Fredericktown, Ohio
Model: SVT (3 door)
Color: Sonic Blue

Why he loves his Focus:
"I actually came upon the car by accident. I was working at a chevy dealer and it came in on trade. I knew i wanted it from the first time i saw it. They gave me a killer deal on it and been in love since. Now after many many thousands of dollars in mods and 100's of hours of work in it. Im still not done. I love it cause its somewhat of a sleeper, not many people expect a nearly stock looking to be fast. The sound of blower at 10psi is to die for. I grin everytime i hear it. Also there is alot of custom work on the car done by me. From the false floor and stereo install. To the custom carbon fiber pieces, to the painted trim. I can say no one else will have the same things i do because i did them all myself. I guess i take alot of pride in my car and thats why i love it so much."

His future plans:

JUNE RIDE OF THE MONTH(2006)

Member name: FOCUSDSOUND
Location: Raleigh, North Carolina
Model: ZX3
Color: Eggyolk Yellow

Why he loves his Focus:
"I love my focus because its the first car I ever owned on my own. I didn't need help to get it, no one had it before me, and I paid for it. I have had the car since it was new in 2001. I fell in love with the euro styling of the car and especially the design of the RS in Europe. I slowly started accumulating euro style parts for the car until modding the car became an obsession. I would like to thank my wife for understanding (well not understanding....more like putting up with) me spending our hard earned money on my addiction. I love you and couldn't have gotten this far without you."

His future plans:
"My future plans inlcude building a show quality sound system to include 5.1 surround sound and a ton of fiberglass work. I do this for a living now and just need to find the time to do my own. I have been in talks with a major manufacturer to help me out and if all goes well I could be finished with that in early spring. I also am hoping to turbo charge the car in the next year as well."

JULY RIDE OF THE MONTH(2006)

Member name: UTAHSVT
Location: Utah
Model: SVT (5 door)
Color: Infra-red

Why he loves his Focus:
"I have always been interested in cars, mostly looks and sound but after F&F 1 (I know that sounds gay) performance started to catch my eye. I had a couple of uncles who owned some sweet cars: Chargers, Challengers, Trans Ams, Cameros, and restored Vettes and I told myself that I was just going to get a car, make it look good first, then sound good, then go fast. I didn't even buy my first car until I was 26 yrs old, it was a Champagne silver '99 Honda Accord V6. Well, with my first mod being Altezza tail lights (lol) I guess I caught the modding bug and ended up doing a little of everything all at once!!! I ended up probably spending $6000 over the next 2 yrs doing different mods including rims, suspension, body kit, I/H/E/UDP and a custom 2-tone paint job that ulitmately was the demise of the Honda for me --- real, real bad expereince. So, I had driven by a Ford dealership a few times on my way to work and they had an Orange and a Black SVTs out on the lot that always piqued my interest. I went in talked with the salesman and started getting visions in my head of what my next car might look like. I had always liked the body style of the Focus, honestly I was a little more partial to the sedan but the hatches looked good too. The number one feature that attracted me to the SVT (at first) were the projector headlights. I mean come on, is there a better looking set of headlights out there? I don't think so. But then I got to learn a little more about SVT and I ended up making a trade in deal for the Focus. My first color option was supposed to be black, but they didn't have any more in stock so they found a brand new Infra-Red one that only had 22 miles on it. I said' "Let's do it" and the rest is a work in progress. I love having a car that doesn't look like anyone elses. I love the fact that it is a limited edition car (I believe mine is one of 99 '04 infra-red ZX5's) and I love the power optioins, moonroof, 6-speed tranny, leather seats, gauges and of course the amazing off the showroom floor performance with room to improve!!!!"

His future plans:
"I' m pretty close to being done with most major mods and having the car the way I want it. In the future I would definitely like to fab up a FMIC for the ProCharger, possibly change front bumper to a Euro style or F2's. Maybe upgrade to the 15lb pulley kit too. Thank you to everyone who voted for me to be July 2006 Ride of the Month. This a GREAT forum and I have learned a ton from all the cool people on here. Thank you!!!!"

AUGUST RIDE OF THE MONTH(2006)

Member name: ATARU
Location: Claremore, Oklahoma
Model: SVT (5 door)
Color: Sonic Blue

Why he loves his Focus:
"Why do I love my Focus? I have a LONG history with the car. I had always wanted a Focus from the day they first announced the car and showed the concept pics. I set a goal that I would definitely own one. Starting in October 1999 I attempted to buy a Focus and failed THREE times before I FINALLY got approved for financing and bought Sonic on August 21st, 2003. (Damn debt consolidation programs....don't EVER do one, they FUBAR your credit BIG time. :D )

I love the style of the car but I love the color of my SVT more. When I got the car the ONLY Sonic Blue SVT left in town was a ZX5 version (2003 was a short run of Sonic Blue SVTs) and I decided the color was more important to me than the number of doors, so I bought the ZX5 SVT in Sonic Blue instead of a ZX3 version in any other color. Over time I started to roll with the whole "Sonic" theme. Since the color is Sonic Blue, I manage a game store, and Sonic is fast like I try to be on the autocross course, I thought that the theme was rather appropriate.

The car has opened up new worlds to me. I've become an active member of my SCCA region and regularly autocross, I've entered many car shows, accumulated a massive Focus model collection, driven half way across the country to go to 2 different large G2Gs ([Requires Approval] and [Requires Approval]) as well as many local G2Gs, and I've also met MANY wonderful people online that I would have never met if it wasn't for owning Sonic and being a part of the Focus community.

So I love how Sonic looks, I love how it drives, but mostly I love the people I have met and the things I have been able to do with the car. That right there is the best part about owning Sonic."

His future plans:
"I have huge ideas of what mods I would like to do, but the lack of excess money to do all the mods sets in and keeps me in check. That's one of the reasons for Sonic's subtle mods. BUT, if I had the cash, here's what I would do:

ST170 front and rear bumpers
SVT sideskirts
SVT EAP Recaro seats
17" OZ Superleggra wheels in Race Silver
Powerworks Supercharger
Lightweight Flywheel
Koni Sport Kit suspension

SEPTEMBER RIDE OF THE MONTH(2006)

Member name: AVENGERC4
Location: Munster, Indiana
Model: SVT (3 door European Appearance Package)
Color: Screaming Yellow

Why he loves his Focus:
"I love my focus because it is so fun to drive. I get in hoping one day I will be able to bring it to an auto-x to show the full potential of the car, although I already take turns over the designated speed :D I love the car because it has great styling, is decently peppy, and takes turns like you couldn't believe unless your sitting in the back seat being thrown into the window on the opposite side of the car :D It might be "just a focus," but your car probably isn't as fun to drive as mine :D"

His future plans:
"My future plans are to get the freshly painted cf hood on sometime soon. I am also going to paint my calipers yellow and have the BAER lettering be black. I just ordered a C-F-M HFC so I'll be taking off the ORP and putting that on as soon as I get it. I also need to change the trans fluid over to Royal Purple. I am going to convert my rear SVT bumper insert into the SAP diffuser also sometime soon. My friend Randy and I are still trying to work on some custom gauges but that will take a while since we are both strapped for time. We are also going to replace the tiny yellowish white bulb in the HIDs with a LED as well as change the turn signal bulb to bright white or chrome (orange when flashing)."

Why he loves his Focus:
"I love my focus because it's unique and I'm molding it into what I want it to be. This is my first new car purchase so I know exactly what's been done to the car and who'd driven it. I handles so nicely that I can't get enough of it on just daily driving alone. It's a great little commuter for daily driving and autoXer on the weekends. Oh and the most important reason why I love my Focus... It's Orange of course"

His future plans:
"I just plan on doing little things to it here and there. A WingsWest whale tail is going on as soon as my dad ships it. Badgeless grill and maybe some new tires, hopefully same rims. Forced Induction is still planned for the future as I get more stable and established in my new home here in chino, CA. Looking to piece together and build a custom turbo setup. DECEMBER RIDE OF THE MONTH(2006)

Member name: GOTTARIDE28
Location: Carol Stream, Illinois
Model: ZX3
Color: Liquid Grey

Why he loves his Focus:
"Ever since I sat in a ZX3 at the Chicago auto show, I fell in love with the cars sleek body style. Once I got the car back in January of 2005 I caught the bug mod quick. Not even 3,000 miles into the car, it was on its way to what it looks like today with almost all the performance and bodywork done with friends and myself. My focus is my hobby/obsession and I spend as much time as I can driving, modifying, showing, racing it. I also daily drive my car too, the car has almost 29K on it, and also is a outside car. So for the miles she has and being the outside car she is, she's holding and looking good. Besides the sleek look of the car its growing aftermarket is becoming huge and will keep building the car as time goes on."

His future plans:
"By spring/summer 2007 I plan on having stage2 from focus sport for the turbo with exedy stage2 clutch/flywheel. Summer plans are to invest in slicks for the track. Save up for a motor rebuild to turn up the boost!"

Why he loves his Focus:
"There are way to many reasons I love her but these are the top ones.
Because it surprises the crap out of people. Who would think a focus could do that?
I have met a lot of great people because of her, a lot of who are now my some of my best friends.
Its something that I can tell people that I have done on my own.
But I think all in all, it has been the most fun to watch her mature, it went from a stock focus, to a ugly rice rocket, to a sexy euro styled Porsche eating machine!"

His future plans:

FEBRUARY RIDE OF THE MONTH(2007)

Member name: CWCZX3
Location: York, Pennsylvania
Model: ZX3
Color: Autumn Orange

Why he loves his Focus:
"I originally bought the focus as a cheap daily driver back in Feb. of 2001 as a leftover 2000 model year. I only went to look and maybe test drive one. I saw them in The WRC which is what turned me onto them in the first place. I wanted something fun to drive with great handling and looks so as not to put a lot of miles on my '89 Shelby CSX. I tinted the windows the first weekend i had it. Next came the Dogbone inserts to stop all the motor movement. My first exterior mod was the mid wing from Wings West. I also installed a set of Goldline lowering springs to get rid of that 4x4 look. That's pretty much how the car stayed for the first year of ownership. I was happy with that and had the Shelby to drive when I wanted something fast.
