It hauls our children and all our stuff when needed, but is still a fun car to drive that still allows me to drive the way I want to; just with storage. Oh yeah, the nitrous allows ne too have a blast every now and then and smoke a car that TOTALLY does NOT expect to get beat by a WAGON!" Member name: 03ORANGESVT Location: Ohio Model: SVT (3 door, European Appearance Package) Color: Competition Orange ![]() Why he loves his Focus: "I bought it because it was Orange, and it was the only one I had seen. It started out to be a daily driver, then me(36) and my Dad (63) decided to build a street racer since neither of us had ever built a 4 cylinder before. Unfortunately cancer got him before it was finished, so its like a special project for me, I'll never sell it. I like keeping the car clean looking... not alot of bling. Just enough to make it stand out without going over board. Its truely meant for pure speed." NOVEMBER RIDE OF THE MONTH(2005)
Member name:MASSIVE Location: Gilbert, Arizona Model: ST Color: CD Silver ![]() Why he loves his Focus: "I love my Focus for many reasons. The first one I can think of is how great the handling & looks are. When I first saw a Focus in 1999, I wasn't really into the headlights and everything. But they've definitely grown on me over the years. This is now my 3rd Focus, having owned a 2001 ZTS & a 2002 ZX3. These cars are so fun to drive, and the second reason for loving it is all the people and all the research here on these forums. All these neat ways people use and share to make their Focus personalized is one of the coolest things about owning one. I'd like to thank Walter Marcy for all the work he put into my car over last weekend as well, installing the cams, fixing my cruise control, the Cosworth noise fix, and helping me with the seats(which were a PITA but turned out awesome)." His future plans: "I'll be installing a Street Appearance rear bumper to finish off the exterior mods (for now ). DECEMBER RIDE OF THE MONTH(2005)
Member name: THEFRUSH Location: Aptos, California Model: SVT (3 door, European Appearance Package) Color: Pitch Black ![]() Why he loves his Focus: "Well that's a tough question. Let's take a little walk back. The first car I ever test drove, before I even had my license, when I was just on my permit, was a 2002 CD Silver SVT Focus with a Flowmaster 40 Series Muffler. I really liked the sound of it, and at the time, that was the extent of my car liking. 'It sounds cool, it looks cool.' I was your typical 15 year-old ricer. I ended up driving well over 50 cars before finally buying my SVT Focus over two years later. Too many names jumped out at me to pass it up, and the pressure from my parents to pick a car meant my time before they made the choice for me was dwindling. 'SVT, Recaro, Ford Racing.' How could I pass this up? I went down to the Ford dealer and test drove the car with my Dad. Just as I remembered, balanced suspension, lack of torque, nice sound. The next day I bought it. When I bought the car I had zero plans to modify it. I wanted to change the stereo a little bit, but my Dad wouldn't allow it. So for the first few months I lived with my bone stock car. But anyone who spends as much time as I did reading up on focusfanatics.com about all the wonderful products there are will have a tought time keeping their car bone stock. Before I knew it I had a short-throw. Then suspension. Then an intake. And look how far we've come from my days of 'Oh I'm just gonna keep it stock.' I suppose I haven't even begun to answer the question. Why do I love my Focus? I love knowing I have never seen another Black European Package SVT Focus on the road. Ever. How many SRT owners can say they've never seen their car in the same color? I love the feeling I get every time I yank the wheel into a corner. I love the feeling I get every time I press the pedal to the floor. I love the feeling I get cruising along the expressway at 50mph knowing that this car is mine. I love the fact that I have gained priceless knowledge that I will have forever, because of this car. But most of all, what I would miss the most if I had to see what I never got, had I not bought this car, I love the fact that I have met some of the coolest people in the world, and built some of my strongest friendships, because of this car." His future plans: "Some time next month I'll be installing a Clutchmasters Stage 3, so I can finally enjoy this new boost. Then, in the Spring, the car will be going to Focussport for a smaller pulley install and dyno tune. I also plan to completely revamp the cooling system in the car. And hopefully by late Spring, she will be hitting open track days with the Focus Challenge. I try not to plan more than 6 months ahead, because we've seen how good I am at sticking to my plans. I bought it when money was tight and I just needed a reliable/cheap car. After about a year, I started to modify it. My Focus went through alot of stages and I changed my mind MANY different times (my wife can corroborate this!!), but all in all, it's just a fun car. After getting married and buying a house, finances got settled, new cars were bought, but I couldn't bring myself to ditch the old SPI Focus. Sentimental, I guess. Anything I know about cars, I learned by working on my Focus (with MUCH help from Marc/Gigaherz and Jim/Waterboy, as well as various others on FJ) It's addicitive and fun to drive. As my signature says, "I'd rather drive the slow car I built than the fast car I bought." His future plans: "NEW REAR BRAKES! I hope to do the SVT rear conversion soon. I'd like to build up the internals, add nitrous (w/ a retune, obviously), and eventually, build a different turbo kit. I've got a few new body parts to add, but they are not priority." Member name: DUDLEY123 Location: New Mexico Model: SVT (3 door) Color: Infra-red ![]() Why he loves his Focus: "I love my focus, because first off, it is somewhat rare that you even see a modified ford focus on the street. I like to break the stereotype of having a ford focus, and that it is more than an econo-box. I like to think it has a combination of mods to satisfy the Show scene, and the Domestic Crowd if you will. I gone through tough times with this car, and it has always pulled through and ran great. After you hit a certain point in modding you cannot just simply call it a focus, its more of your own creation. I love my car and cannot wait to finish it off!!!" MARCH RIDE OF THE MONTH(2006)
Member name: DRAGON Location: San Jacinto, California Model: ZTS (sedan w/2.3) Color: Infra-red ![]() Why he loves his Focus: "Well I usually get a new vehicle every 3 years. My lease was up on my Sport-Trac and this time around I decided to go with a small car and purchase it this time. I needed a 4 door and liked the equipment on the ZTS. I've been in the Auto Business 25 years and cars don't usually excite me. I jumped in this one and it really surprised me. Nice little pep and great handling. I decided to tint the windows and was able to swap my stock wheels for some SHM wheels. I found this site and another and after finding out what you could do to the Focus I got hooked on modding it. This is actually the first car I've ever modded and damn it's become addicting !!! I don't believe I will get rid of this one after 3 years." His future plans: "I have the HID angel eye headlights, 02 Euro grill, and a Lentech valve body to go in the next week. I plan on painting the hood and spoiler this month. I'm also going to add a custom leather interior w/ a new headliner this month also. APRIL RIDE OF THE MONTH(2006)
Member name: V6FOCUS Location: Ridgeley, West Virginia Model: ZX5 Color: CD Silver ![]() Why he loves his Focus: 2 Reasons: "It's a common family interest. The car was bought new for my wife new in 02. It took several years of subtle changes and the eventual begining of autocrossing that really opened everything up. She picked out the bumper and the hood and choose the color of the flames. It's really nice to have a wife that show interest in my hobby(did I mention she keeps a copy of her dyno in her pocketbook), I can now say that "MY" hobby has turned into "OUR" hobby. I like knowing when we are working on a car, she's there asking questions and learning. Really has brought us closer together. It's Fast and It Still Hauls the Kids. I love seeing people reaction after they have driven or ridden in it, seems like it leaves a smile on your face hours after you drive it. Then when it's time to preform as the family car, there is no fear of driviblity issues, most of the time you can't even tell the blower is there. Whether it's autocrossing or driving to grandma's house, the ZX5 is there, it really is a complete car. To quote a good friend "It's amazing what a little car can do." His future plans: "Drive, Drive, Drive......We spent all winter putting it together, now it's time to run. Road racing, autoXing, and just taking drives.....now it's time to enjoy it. We have several events on tap for the year so it will definately be raced. Only real upgrade to the car will be a suspension kit." Member name: SVT_BMXER Location: Fredericktown, Ohio Model: SVT (3 door) Color: Sonic Blue Why he loves his Focus: "I actually came upon the car by accident. I was working at a chevy dealer and it came in on trade. I knew i wanted it from the first time i saw it. They gave me a killer deal on it and been in love since. Now after many many thousands of dollars in mods and 100's of hours of work in it. Im still not done. I love it cause its somewhat of a sleeper, not many people expect a nearly stock looking to be fast. The sound of blower at 10psi is to die for. I grin everytime i hear it. Also there is alot of custom work on the car done by me. From the false floor and stereo install. To the custom carbon fiber pieces, to the painted trim. I can say no one else will have the same things i do because i did them all myself. I guess i take alot of pride in my car and thats why i love it so much." His future plans: "Future plans consist of some small minor up keep on it. Also id like window tint soon and im still debating about getting rid of my cf hood. I didn't need help to get it, no one had it before me, and I paid for it. I have had the car since it was new in 2001. I fell in love with the euro styling of the car and especially the design of the RS in Europe. I slowly started accumulating euro style parts for the car until modding the car became an obsession. I would like to thank my wife for understanding (well not understanding....more like putting up with) me spending our hard earned money on my addiction. I love you and couldn't have gotten this far without you." His future plans: "My future plans inlcude building a show quality sound system to include 5.1 surround sound and a ton of fiberglass work. JULY RIDE OF THE MONTH(2006)
Member name: UTAHSVT Location: Utah Model: SVT (5 door) Color: Infra-red ![]() Why he loves his Focus: "I have always been interested in cars, mostly looks and sound but after F&F 1 (I know that sounds gay) performance started to catch my eye. I had a couple of uncles who owned some sweet cars: Chargers, Challengers, Trans Ams, Cameros, and restored Vettes and I told myself that I was just going to get a car, make it look good first, then sound good, then go fast. I didn't even buy my first car until I was 26 yrs old, it was a Champagne silver '99 Honda Accord V6. Well, with my first mod being Altezza tail lights (lol) I guess I caught the modding bug and ended up doing a little of everything all at once!!! I ended up probably spending $6000 over the next 2 yrs doing different mods including rims, suspension, body kit, I/H/E/UDP and a custom 2-tone paint job that ulitmately was the demise of the Honda for me --- real, real bad expereince. So, I had driven by a Ford dealership a few times on my way to work and they had an Orange and a Black SVTs out on the lot that always piqued my interest. I went in talked with the salesman and started getting visions in my head of what my next car might look like. I had always liked the body style of the Focus, honestly I was a little more partial to the sedan but the hatches looked good too. The number one feature that attracted me to the SVT (at first) were the projector headlights. I mean come on, is there a better looking set of headlights out there? I don't think so. But then I got to learn a little more about SVT and I ended up making a trade in deal for the Focus. My first color option was supposed to be black, but they didn't have any more in stock so they found a brand new Infra-Red one that only had 22 miles on it. I said' "Let's do it" and the rest is a work in progress. I love having a car that doesn't look like anyone elses. I love the fact that it is a limited edition car (I believe mine is one of 99 '04 infra-red ZX5's) and I love the power optioins, moonroof, 6-speed tranny, leather seats, gauges and of course the amazing off the showroom floor performance with room to improve!!!!" His future plans: "I' m pretty close to being done with most major mods and having the car the way I want it. In the future I would definitely like to fab up a FMIC for the ProCharger, possibly change front bumper to a Euro style or F2's. Maybe upgrade to the 15lb pulley kit too. Thank you to everyone who voted for me to be July 2006 Ride of the Month. This a GREAT forum and I have learned a ton from all the cool people on here. Thank you!!!!"
